2025 GLC SUV 4Matic AMG package
Staggered tire setup to squared setup

Does anyone have good reliable info on changing over from a staggered tire setup to a square set up on a GLC 300 SUV 4matic with AMG package included? The staggered tires that came with my 2025 GLC are riding rough, and they are not the worse tires, however I feel getting better tires would improve the ride overall. I don't race the car, and I didn't buy it for high performance driving, it is used as a daily driver to work and back, grocery store etc. I would be looking to put all season tires on the vehicle, as that is what it also came with, and I require all season, where I live due to snow and such through the winter months. I have been reading forums and such and there is a mixed bag of feelings about this scenario, so I am not sure of the best practice moving forward and looking for advice from those that have changed over and what the ride was like, what tire they went with and how it affected the car/ride/performance overall. Thanks in advance.

you can go to squared set up with no issues, but you will need to replace wheels most likely. My wife has the one without amg package with standard 18" wheels, rides super smooth.
Also, squared set up allows you to rotate tires.

When you say 'wheels' are you referring to rims? I was planning on getting 4 new tires all around, if that is what you mean by wheels...?

yes, your rims have different width and narrower tires will not fit well wider rim.

So looked into the setup on my car and there are very limited choices of tires available for this model with the staggered setup and none of them are any better than what came with the car sadly, especially when it comes to snow/ice and ride quality. The Defender 2 are great but hard ride quality and not good in the snow. The CrossClimate 2 do not come in a staggered size, so I would have to get all new rims in order to use them and that is added cost I don't know I want to spend , since I just bought the car a month ago. I guess I will stick with the OEMs that came with it for now and see how they perform through this winter in Wisconsin. Time will tell.

Continental DWS 06 should be available in this size and it is pretty decent tire.

So,, I did a deep dive into a ton of research this morning and I used TireRack, as they have some of the best write ups and info around in one place. I did find the tires I wanted and thoroughly reviewed these around the forums and sites before pushing the button to purchase. I went with the Pirelli Scorpion Weather Active XL as they are highly rated for heavy snow, low road noise and good track wear and tear. I will have them installed on 26Dec2024. Once I have driven on them a bit, will come back on and give my thoughts on them overall. Every tire has its good and bad points and reviews are all subjective to personnel opinion, but the overall reviews on these tires were positive I found.

CrossClimate 2 supports the 2025 GLC AMG Line staggered setup. They get good reviews and it’s what I’ll be putting on my GLC as soon as it’s delivered in a week. See the link below for the size/spec chart.

If I lived in Wisconsin (and I have lived in both IL and MN), I'd be mounting snow tires (square) on a set of dedicated wheels during the winter months. The cost only seems expensive until you lose control, crash and face repair costs because your "all season" tires weren't up to the task of a WI winter.

I have lived in WI all my life, have never used snow tires once and y last 5 vehicles had high-end all-season tires on them and never had an issue, It comes down more to the driver and not the snow in most cases on wintery roads.

I could not find any Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires that accepted the staggered sizes on a GLC with AMG package...they even noted that at the tire store as well when I asked about those specific tires.

Both Tire Rack and Discount Tire have CrossClimate 2 tires to fit the front and back.
