Touch controls

I’ve had my 2024 GLC 300 for 8 months and 12,000 miles now and overall, I’m very happy with it.
Better performance than my outgoing 2012 GLK 350, plus much better MPG. Road handling is better
as well.

Having said that, I do have a couple of complaints. Setting the ventilation controls via the touch
screen is a real PITA. I have to take my eyes off the road to find the sweet spot, plus I usually have
to lock some fingers under the edge of the screen to study my hand. This backwards from my old
GLK. Also, setting the Cruise Control is an even bigger PITA. Sometimes the buttons on the steering
wheel respond and sometimes they don’t respond at all. Other times, the buttons respond after a
5 second delay or so. Very aggravating.

I drove my 2014 BMW M235i yesterday and it was so nice to have instant response when setting the
cruise control.

A common complaint, that said, you could try to use Hey Mercedes to set the climate control instead.

I find that the AUTO setting for the climate controls works pretty well. But I could see doing manual adjustments would be a pain. Do you use Sirius/XM radio? If so, how do you access the SXM favorites from the main screen? I have to make 4 different selections to get them to show up. While driving. On a flat screen. Not exactly safe. Curious if the 2024 is better than the 2025 in that way.

I too had a GLK and I miss that car so much. The looks, the 300 HP V6, all the buttons. But that's never coming back I guess. The GLC is nicer in many ways.

I have Sirius, but seldom use it because it bothers my wife (she has dementia). Having said that,
when we first got the GLC I found that I can call up a radio channel via the Mercedes Lady. I haven’t
done it in a while, but the command was something like, “Hey Mercedes,” (“How may I help you”?”,
“Set radio to channel 26.”

I haven't got mine yet but I'm sure I'll agree with you about the haptic cruise controls and screen for ventilation. I know why they did it (cost) but it's annoying. Still, the rest of the car convinced me to order one.

Our 2024 GLC300 is our first Mercedes and MBUX leaves alot to be desired. Im trying to figure out the target they were trying to achieve because any normal use of navigating is an endless sea of choices. Changing a radio station is a 4-8 button/screen experience if you can remember where to start with. It really appears that they want you to usse "Hey Mercedes" 100% of the time for a premium experience, but trying to get the system to swtich to FM 101.1 doesnt always work right and you then need to navigate the screens.

I spent about 20 mins setting up "Favorites" for radio stations my wife and I listen to, only to find out they are profile specific so I had to repeat the process on my profile as well. Id love to meet with the lead designer to better understand what type of user was the target for the system - its almost like 10 different teams worked on sections that were stitched together as the end product.

Im also not a fan of the driver IP/guage cluster options - where is the odometer again?

In regards to the Odometer is in the trip menu. Swipe up or down until you get to it.

Understood but why is it buried? Theres a ton of wasted real estate in the Dash IP screen. Every piece of data is like a "module" vs being a cohesive information group for the driver.

Good question but it was always like that on modern MBs I think starting W204? GLK? It does show the odometer when you turn off the engine and/or first enter the vehicle in the morning, if the don't forget your key message doesn't block it that is.

Agreed with all that. Problem with Hey Mercedes is that I don't know channel numbers. So it won't let me say Play Channel First Wave, I need the channel number. I just don't know any of the channel numbers. But they are all saved in SXM Favorites, so why can't I scroll through those favorites? The scroll on the steering wheel scrolls through ALL channels, NOT favorites. SXM has over 300 channels! The screen looks good and nicer than any other car in it's class, but it doesn't work right.
