Digital LED headlight lens replacement
1. Replace lens
The lens itself isn't easily replaceable but I've seen videos
Does anyone know the quality on these after market lenses? Particularly clarity and wear over the years without yellowing. I've found a few on eBay. Does anyone know where I can find an OEM lens? Will the resealed lens will be just as good as the original - waterproof, etc.
2. Replace assembly
This will mean replacing the entire Digital LED headlight assembly with a new one. The more expensive but safer option on a car less than a year old. Also, I had RJ Automotive code my current lights to ILS+, so it might need to be recoded if they can't move the modules over or the existing one get overwritten. And I don't want to have to pay to recode those again, which will make the replacement cost even higher.
Additionally, I am going to pay for this out-of-pocket as I don't want a claim to jack up my insurance as I have a $1000 deductible anyway. Though Colorado does have a "not-at-fault" law restricting insurers from raising rates, I think it still might go against my rates.
I PPF'd the broken area with a hole and cracks so that it's sealed against water and dust until I can have it fixed.
Any thoughts, comments on the best option?
