Yesterday I drove up a hill straight into the sun that was low on the horizon and besides being nearly impossible to see, it seems to have temporarily messed up the light sensor. I got a variation of this message on the instrument panel:
I checked them after the message came on (the DRL strips were on, not low beams) and the low beams were fine, and also the low beam automatic function was fine later that evening. The light they cast was fine, no difference from usual.
My hypothesis is that the blazing sun went into the light sensor and temporarily pithed its brain. I'll wait until the first service in the spring before asking the dealer to look into this, unless it comes more often....

I had a similar error a few weeks ago for the passenger side low beam on my 2023 GLC. Took it to dealer for warranty service and they did a software update and told me it was corrected. This was the 9th time I have had the GLC in for various error codes that were all resolved with software updates. However, this is the first one since May 2025. Will see if the software is stable again….

same thing happened to me. After the update I noticed I could now change the light settings in the mobile app which had disappeared prior
Well my lights worked again the following morning and haven't failed since. Curiously it's the only time I have ever seen the 12V battery showing a partial charge.
