I have a 2024 GLC whose PDC sensor won’t stop beeping and keeps showing malfunction. Dealership is saying a rock hit it on the peripheral and is charging me $1300 to replace it, remove bumper and repair. I’m livid given this could happen again tomorrow. Any suggestions.
1. Ask for a goodwill repair. A decent dealer should do this. A forwward facing proximity sensor like that should be able to take gravel hits without borking.
2. Try your insurer. It should be covered, as would any other damage from projectiles on the road.
3. Get a quote for the part alone and then get an independent to fit it, or do it yourself.

I definitely would fight for a warranty claim. The car was not exposed to any harsh conditions outside of use and the sensors should be able to withstand impacts from gravel and other normal road debris. Unacceptable. I would fight and take it all the way to Germany or try a different dealer.
