4 year lease - maintenance plan?

Hi All,

I have a 2018 GLC43 and the first service is due (10K miles). I recall that before the first service is due or before the first year since lease is complete I can still opt into their maintenance plan (pre-paid up front/etc.).

Can you guys give me the scoop if it's more cost efficient to do the maintenance plan through MB or just pay for the services as they come along? Does anybody have the dollar figures for the options? The local dealer charges $299 for the first service which is not that cheap for 1 hr of labor and an oil change?

Thanks!

if you actually ask what it is they are doing for the amount you are spending it is .... check fluids, brakes, air filter, check this , check that, top coolant, top fluids etc -- and the only thing they actually do is change the oil. If you price that out its only $120 for the oil change. its a total rip off.

Well they call it a 10K mile service...are you saying I should call back and just schedule an oil change?

I think that you should have them send you the list of things they do for the $ and decide yourself if its necessary. I think you'll be surprised at what you are really paying for in the end for that $. Then ask how much just the oil change is, then decide. Now if you already prepaid for the service then just let them do the work for you.

If you received the owners/command/ maintenance manual with the car, look at maintenance manual, if not register with MBUSA and download them. It will state what a service A,B etc. entails. If you have ever done any work on any car you've ever owned before, you can do it. I do not vac out oil, I put it up in the air and remove belly pans and drain the oil, that means I inspect the car for any potential leaks or visual problems. If you ever did a brake job, mercedes are easy. The only thing you should not fool with is changing Trans fluid,( due at 60k) or brake fluid unless you've done brake work before. Somewhere in the forum someone had dealer replace rear end fluid and they require replacing the drain and filler plug at a cost of $44.50 per plug, that's nuts. Working on a Mercedes is not that hard, you can do it. save all receipts, only use MB spec fluids Found under Mercedes Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids (MB Be Vo) on the web. It is Gospel.

We got a relatively good deal $68K or so sticker if I recall negotiated down to $63K, money factor lowered by maxing out multiple security deposits...4 year lease payments $780 per month with nothing down.

Does anybody know whether a leased car from MB must be serviced at MB?

Also I have a dealer who came back with a 4-year service plan (complete or so they claim) for $1745...does anybody have a snapshot of the manual of what is done in the first 4 years/48,000 km? I assume if there is any kind of brake work/etc. then this would pay for itself but if it's like 4 oil changes then it's not that attractive...

~ I have leased 3 Mercedes cars in recent years (36 month leases) and have only done the 2 oil changes at about $199 each versus the A & B scheduled maintenance and returned the cars once the lease was expired without any concerns or issues. I also elected to change the cabin filter myself which is typically performed on Service B.

I purchased the GLC43 but I will most likely do the same regarding the oil changes and cabin filter ... for the typical A & B Services are more less a 'look over inspection' and oil change.
