21" Tire/Wheel Thoughts
I'm thinking of approaching MBUSA with the complaint of how embarrassing it is when guests riding in my car think there is something broken because of the loud "POP" sound that occurs 4 times when backing out of my garage and turning. MB should address this issue. It is unacceptable. I've had a dozen Mercedes-Benz and never anything remotely like this. I'll update when I know more.
I would gladly trade these beautiful 21" wheels for the 20" AMG Multi-Spoke...
Stock - Summer Tires
255/40/21 - Front
285/35/21 - Rear
Alternative - All-Season Tires
265/40/21 - Front
275/40/21 or 295/35/21 - Rear
Yeah, it's funny, on the MBUSA website it's not mentioned at all during the "Building" process. You have to be a sleuth to find it, but when you are on the GLC43 Info page, you have to look at "Features", then "Design", then scroll right to optional "21-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels w/black accents", click on it and then click on "Disclaimer". THEN, finally, it talks about the "downsides" to these tires/wheels and mentions "...not designed for use on snow and ice.". I've had an easier time finding an answer to a Calculus problem...

I purchased the tire and wheel warranty for my 2017 GLS550. I can tell you it covers any road hazard. Not even 2 weeks from getting the vehicle I picked up a nail and screws. Drivers rear and passenger front. The warranty replaced both tires. No patches. It protects against rim damage and tires for 5 years and it covers small paint less dent repair and lost or stolen keys. I paid $1400 and the tires were invoiced at $900+. I believe it’s a good deal. Things happen.

AMG vehicles come with performance tires (summer) and not all season tires - if you buy a performance vehicle you get performance tires. When I look at the MB configuration tool in Canada, if you pick the 21 inch tire option, check the final configuration equipment list and under "wheels" is says "summer performance tires".
