Quote: Sad to report that I am still suffering from terrible rattles on the GLC. They are confident they can get them out but I am exploring legal options now.

Does anyone have a contact with MB USA? I need to get around my dealer at this point.

Your was an inventory car, right?

I don’t think so. Mine has a June build date.

After two weeks at the dealer I think we have most of the rattles sorted and it's much better. Still have an issue where the presets are resetting (deleting) from the radio. Other than that, we are pretty lined out.

Sucks it took 50% of my ownership thus far at service to get there, but I think I have a vehicle I can drive now.

Do most of you with the rattles have run flats? 95% of mine went away when I put winter non run flats on, now they're back with the winters off. Going to get rid of the factory run flats soon.

My wife’s car but zero issues when I’m driving or in the passenger seat. She loves the thing.

I have the same kind of issues on my 2018 glc43
Rattles in driver side door panel (in fact the leatherette is not well glued on it ..).
Seats, rear doors, windscreen, HUD : rattle.
Body parts not aligned too.
Condensation in headlights.
And so on ...

Quote: I can't understand the constant excuses made for poor build quality and engineering issues. It is not ok to have multiple interior rattles and buzzes in any new vehicle. It is not ok to have 4 recalls in a year. It is not ok for the transmission to have have a downshift so jerky in any drive mode that you can't stop the car smoothly and be told after two service rebuilds that you gotta live with it. It is not ok to spend 65k on a vehicle and lose you *** on it because you are going to have to get rid of it
before the warranty runs out because you are afraid of the future repair cost. And it is not ok to have no response from MB or the dealer to try and rectify the situation. I traded in an Infinity FX35 that didn't have one service issue in 5 years and 85,000 miles and had no rattle issue in the interior ever. I currently drive a 2015 Mustang GT, 2007 Chrysler 300(120k miles, winter car)and a 2016 Ram Pickup, all quiet inside, less quality and recall issues combined than my GLC43. Stop accepting this crap and excusing it.
You said it all.

I'm done spending over 40k on any car. German cars are *****. They are only good at handling, everything else is an absolute disaster.

That being said, at the end of the year I'm getting rid of my 43 and buying a 25k Mazda and will save 600-1000/mo on a completely unnecessary vehicle.

Agree not acceptable ........as said we’ve had zero issues. My last lemon German car was a 2001 745i a hot mess buy back BMW made it right. Since then over 12 cars mostly German and zero issues ....sorry to hear. My four not pictured Range Rover Sport all flawless. Good luck.

Wow, that is quite a drastic change, but understandable.
I actually went from a GLC63AMG to a GLE350 with the "AMG" pack, and i can't even begin to tell you how shocked i am at the build difference.

Little things like:
1. After washing the GLC, all the door jams (the insides would be dripping with water, not to mention the dust from driving around) - GLE has BARELY any water
2. The quality of the fittings, i took apart some of my trims to install dash cams, did it on the GLC, and now on the GLE, the GLC was all plastic, and barely reinforced with any padding for rattles - Whilst the GLE was just better put together, rubber grommets, and sound insulation pads on the roof etc. (NOT AFTERMARKET).
3. When i wash the car, the wipers of the GLC are these featherlight things that feel like they could snap off any time. The GLE on the other hand... the wiper arm is a solid piece of metal.

Not sure if people will say its unfair because i am comparing a "E" with a "C". But i just feel that NEWER cars, with a whole new redesigned body style, are built with costs in mind... IE: Oh wait, why are we spending $50 per wiper arm on the car, when if we get a thinner piece of metal, its only $20 and does the same thing...

My W204 C63AMG is the same way, extremely well built, but the W205 has way more plastics (IN THE name of weight savings....)

Did anyone mention the A/C? If so I didn't see it. Mine takes too long to get cool; you can't even start the car and let it idle w/ A/C on, doesn't help.

I've got an appointment at my dealer next Saturday to do the rear diff oil change. I've got a couple of things I need to address with them.

1. Rattles: Sunglass holder (tried to fix with felt tape) and passenger back door sounds like it has something loose in it.
2. Black Paint on the interior of the exhausts has flaked off
3. Paint on the edge / lip under the rear window looks like it's been damaged. (They ran it through the automated car wash last time I was there it's been hand-washed only besides that)

I always tell the dealer don’t wash my cars. Those poor guys are washing cars all day, and are rushed. Gritty rags will jack up your clear coat, and it just not good

Same issues with mine. Plus shifting issues. This thing goes through 4 gears by the time it hits 20 MPH. And its jerky, noisy, rough riding, and road noise is unbearable at times. Talk about buyer regret ! My f150 ford is silky smooth and dead quiet with no rattles. Im damn glad I leased this POS and cant wait for it to go back !

Quote: I am lucky I don't have anything happening on the list above however...

Lets be serious... Cars are getting more expensive and corners are getting cut. Lets face the facts. The GLC is technically a 35k car. We just opted for the 80k version of it.

I'll let you borrow my Trackhawk and you will lose your mind with all the noises going on in it.

My suggestion is crack the windows, put it in sport plus, switch to manual and have the exhaust cancel the noise out.
Best advice here lol

The rattles in my car drive me nuts

I finally read through this thread. I also had a sunroof rattle. I got it fixed under warranty within a week of purchasing the car. The only other annoying item is the sunglass holder. It took me a while also to figure out what the actual noise was. I just keep my sunglasses in the driver side door now. Crazy how bad it rattles in there, i never had that issue in my S8.

I've had both of those issues in my 43. The sunglass case rattles like a ****, so I don't keep anything in there. And I had my sunroof rattle repaired within two weeks of owning the car. Everything is fine now, but I do feel a little let down by the build quality of my Benz. No one should spend $70k on a car only to have it rattle. Luckily my dealer is top notch.

Quote: Greetings everyone. I've had the car two weeks to the day and I am sad to say that I am just having the most annoying issues with the car. Something that should not be on a SUV with a 90K price tag. I am curious if my ride is unique (lemon) or is this what you guys just deal with the MB brand. If it's the later I plan to bail on my first MB and never come back.

Issues:
- Interior rattle from overhead sunglass holder.
- Interior rattle from rear passenger side seat.
- Interior rattle from rear quarter glass trim, both sides.
- Interior rattle from driver's side rear door panel. Isolated to speaker grill.
- Headlight malfunction warning (2x in first 300 miles). Restart, goes away
- Proximity warnings (front) delayed. Meaning they don't work fast enough if pulling into a parking spot before making contact with something.
- Wind noise from sunroof. It's terrible above 90mph. I have triple checked it's closed.
- Surging throttle while at slow speeds in any mode other than comfort.
- Non uniform body gaps on both front door edges to front fender. Passenger side 9.8mm and Driver's 7.7mm.

Other than the sound of the vehicle, I am just underwhelmed. I have had countless daily drivers in this space and they all blow this thing away in QC. Mercedes should be ashamed of the way this thing was delivered to me.

I'm going to take this list to the service department. If we can't get to an agreeable solution to remedy each and every item I am going to pursue other actions.
i am with you man, I had the car for 2 years, spent most of my time to fixing noise in car…
rattles every where… I guess we just have very bad road conditions in Quebec.🥲
