First oil change on my GLC63S

I only had 7000 miles but decided I would change the oil and post what you need for this procedure. There are 2 plastic drain plugs to take out. One is in the filter housing the other is in the plastic pan next to the filter. The plug in the filter housing is only there to drain the housing the one in the drain pan lets the oil out and it is a good size hole so when you take it out be ready because it drains quickly. The 2 plastic hex plugs you need to remove are not in very tight. I drained out a little over 9 qts of oil so make sure your drain pan holds that much. There is a steel skid plate under the engine that needs to be removed to access the components.
You need the following tools
10MM Hex wrench for the filter to drain the housing and a 15/16 socket to take off the filter housing so you can change the filter
5/16 Hex wrench to take the plug out of the oil pan

Sorry can’t answer the question, but isn’t the first oil change free at 10k?

There's a nice video of this process I found here, but probably for the 2020 year refresh model:

What is required to remove the steel plate?
A lot of other german cars make it easy so the drain plug is exposed, or easily removed. The steel plate sounds like it needs work lol.

It is a standard skid plate bolted to the frame and is easy to remove. As I said in my first post and you can see by the video the oil drains fast so be quick. I have a galvanized drip pan under the car that I put the drain pan on because you will get some splashing when it drains. In the video you will notice he did not take the drain plug out of the oil filter before he took it off causing another mess. There is only about a half a quart of oil in the filter so it doesn't take long and makes it easier to take off the filter. This engine holds 9.5 qt. and drains in 30 sec so be ready when you take out the main plug. They sell new drain plugs for the oil pan so I replace mine every time but the filter plug you either have to reuse or buy the complete assembly. The filter housing comes with plug, filter housing a new filter and the check valve. The check valve is on the long plastic shaft you see in this video. You can unscrew it by hand and screw in the new one.

@gfish When do you plan on getting your rear differential fluid changed? I have a 2021 GLC 63 and was told by the dealership it's not required like I read on this forum at 2k or 3k miles. I am use to Bmw M cars so got my oil changed in my GLC 63 at 2k miles and they told me the rear differential fluid does not need changed like older glc 63 models required until service B I believe.

I have a 2018 and my differential fluid was changed at 1000 miles per the original Mercedes recommendation. I think they realized it was a waste of time and removed it.
