2016-2017 GLC 63 amg owner experience

Calling current owners of glc 63(2016-2017)I am in the market for a CPO glc 63 amg. Would be looking for something less than 30-35k miles. Looking for your experience with the vehicle; issues, likes, and would you recommend the vehicle?

Thank you. You can tell this would be the first time for me in mercedes 😊. Currently a BMW owner..

Any insight on 2018-2019. Would not be buying the S version which came out this year( non coupe)..

My first MB too. I decided to sell my M3 Convertible that I hardly drove and go down to one car as the 63 is my daily driver. It's been a great compromise. Awesome power and good handling. I have had no issues. You will see lots of complaints about build quality squeaks and rattles but none on mine. I have the 21" wheels and there is some tire crabbing at low speeds and full lock. Especially when the weather is cold. In my opinion the crabbing issue is overblown on the forum. I don't feel that it has had any effect on tire wear and is not that big an issue. It is not uncommon on many cars with wide summer performance tires.

I have a 2019 glc63 and my engine shutdown on me twice(1st 2 months of ownership). Mb decided to change the ME unit and so far it’s been ok but only time will tell since I just got the car back last week. The car was at dealership for 3 weeks fixing the problem. I’m just waiting for it to break one more time and I’m going to throw in the towel and call it quits. So far I’ve own the car for almost 3 months and got about 2300 miles on it. Good luck

I have 2018 S version, 13 500km on the ODO and very happy with the car. The V8 engine with its sound is amazing. Car is very comfortable, even on 21 rims. I am not experiencing any problem. Only small minus for me is definitely small tank, which is only 66L. My long term consumption stays around 14,5 - 15L / 100km.
Some of the owners are complaining about the transmission as it could get jerky sometimes. Not my case, but I am aware that you need to use all driving modes correctly, as for example, idea to drive the car in the city in S+ or Race will lead to not very comfortable ride - gas is very sensitive under this set up, transmission is holding gears longer and etc..

I tend to change cars every year and have had most of the "sporty" SUVs. Out of the 25+ cars I have owned the AMG GLC 63s is my favorite. It is very comfortable, very quick, sounds awesome, is an absolute blast to drive and it gets more attention than any car I have driven. On a daily basis someones gives me the thumbs up sign or actually tells me how awesome it is.

Minor complaints are jerkiness when driving slow in S+ but that's my fault since I like keeping it in that mode and crabbing which 3 of my other SUVs also did. It's just part of an AWD with summer tires.

I plan on keeping this one for awhile.

Looks good! What have been your closest runner ups? I've a 43 and have had it 2 years, still love it but will change it out when the warranty is close to up in the next 6months-year. Leaning towards a 63. Sorry to hijack thread OP

My 2017 GLE 63s was my second favorite. I had a highly modified 2018 X3M40 in between and two modified SQ 5's right before the GLE.

Nice collection. My brother in law has the X3M40. What was the GLE like to drive in comparison? I like them too but imagine you can really feel the added weight. Same as the X5M, love how they look but same thing.

The GLE was more luxury and less performance. It was a great road trip car but just bigger than what I need. It was slower and had more body roll.

The GLC is just a pure beast.

I've owned 2018 GLC 63s Coupe for three months now, this car is so quick and sounds amazing.
Same as others, crabbing is one of the characteristics and some rattles inside of this car, I tend to put up the volume for radio so that I won't hear the rattle......

Now that mine is lowered it amazes me how in race mode, I can slam into a corner and the hard accelerate out and as soon as traction breaks, feather/pedal it down and get totally sideways until it abruptly pulls you back in line. I did it so hard this afternoon that it actually slammed me into the door so hard that it hurt my shoulder. It takes a while to understand the technique as it just shuts down power if you stay on the gas but you can trick it with proper pedaling.

I love this car.

Is crabbing from tire contact with wheel arch liner, or is it stick-slip of the tire against the road/ground? Two different phenomena that can present similar symptoms.

crabbing is absolutely related to the OEM tires.
I had it on my OEM SportContact tires but zero occurrence when I ran ExtremeContact DWS in 22" size (same width and height) and with my current ExtremeContact Sport in shorter 28.7" height.
I would not count that as a problem.

Interesting but I bet you would find that you have the issue with any soft Summer tire.

I had the issue on my GLE 63S with Michelins, P-zero and Conti. All were Summer tires.

Bigger, slower, less handling but dead quiet, no rattles and smooth as glass. It's more Luxury and the GLC 63s is more Sport.

I liked me but nowhere near as much as I like my GLC.

I do not have this issue in Continental Extremcontact Sport (summer) tires. These tires are only second to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.

P-Zero are a distant third in my opinion.

nice. My 19 GLC has passed 15k miles.

If i could afford the GLE63, I would have bought the E63 Wagon.

I am really not an SUV guy but the GLC63 fakes it well

Very, very interesting... I had Continental Extremcontact Sport first and then P-Zeros and trying the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S next(hoping to get another 1,000 miles out of the Zeros but I doubt I can) Crabbed with everything so far.

wow. that is extreme. where are you located. it is still pretty warm in Texas so I have not had the EC Sport under 60 degrees. I guess i'll have to see what January holds.

I have had no major issues with my 19 GLC S COUPE. A few minor things that set off sensors for few drops low on fluid but that’s it. I actually have two AMG cars both fully modded out. No problems. Just do your homework on the ride you want to buy.
