For built in I would recommend the AL Priority Jammer & Net Radar. They are updating with onboard memory so make sure you wait and get the new one.
I running Alp jammers in both my cars one with a alp net radar (More economical for unit and install and one less controller) the other with escort max ci.
If you want stand alone detector it would have to be Uniden R7. There’s nothin cheap about any of these unless you have a jammer the detectors are just about useless for laser.

I agree. If laser is primarily used in your area, no radar detector will help you (other than to let you know you've been lasered). You will need ALP. I have a Uniden R3 and it is great. Obviously, if you have the money to spend, an installed radar such as Escort or Radenso is the way to go. If you are looking for a windshield mount, go with Uniden (R3 or R7 with arrows).

i live in Texas and the Passport 360 has been plenty sufficient. Good highway range.
I have been tagged once inside San Antonio. it was close range and I was having too much fun with little attention.
Except you are certain there's only laser in your area, a good passport 360 would serve you well to an extent.
There are some municipalities still using K band like Pearland and Brenan. Always funny to get a K pop that is really a cop.
