What are Standard Headlights on AMG GLC 43

I'm in the market for a pre-owned GLC 43 Coupe, and I'm finding conflicting information. Are the standard headlights on the 2017 43 LED, HID, or Halogen projectors? Figured the forum would know.

The upgraded lights are the LED ones.

Even though the brochure says LED headlamps are standard in the 43?

Sorry. Should have been more clear. The Active MULTIBEAM LED Lighting System is an upgrade. Its part of the Tech Package.

Thank you! So to confirm, both low and hi-beam LED are standard? Here’s a pic from from the dealership.

Not on a 2017, I believe. I think they were regular, Halogen's that were STANDARD. LED's and Active LED's were options. I have the Dealer Order Guide for the SUV and that's what it says. Coupe may be a different story, but I doubt it. I'm pretty sure your pic above is the Halogen's.

Thanks. This has been quite the debacle. With the help of the forum I’ve figured that the projector on the right is LED but haven’t been able to figure out the lamp on the left.

OK, I was wrong, it says LED right on the Headlight assembly...duh. Ha. You are right, the right side is LED and I believe the left is Halogen. I think this vehicle has the optional, non-active LED headlights.

thank you. What does non active led mean. Is that left portion still halogen?

Here's what the 2017 GLC (SUV) Dealer Order Guide (DOG) says...

Standard = Halogen Headlamps including integral LED daytime running lamps...that strip above the headlamps.

LED Headlamps - Option 632
All functions feature LED technology
Distinctive look by day and night
Tail lights with LED technology

Active LED Headlamps - Option 640
All functions feature LED technology
Automatically activated cornering lights
Active light function for significantly better illumination in bends
Distinctive look by day and night
Long service life thanks to LED technology - no need for bulb changes
Light color similar to that of daylight
Low energy consumption
Taillamps with LED technology

I believe the pic you posted is the first LED-Option 632, as it matches the pic in the DOG I'm looking at and comparing it to. I underlined the differences above for non-active vs active LED in the Options lists...no big deal, IMO. And finally, I think I'm wrong again re: halogen on left side of your pic as Options 632 and 640 listed above both say "All functions feature LED technology". The left side looks different in the DOG for all 3 options, so I think that's where I got confused...and I'm trying to multi-task, which I'm not real good at.

OP, those are the standard LED's option 632. This is what the upgraded lights look like:

Just select the Tech pack below and the front will change to the upgraded lights.

Thank you so much for your time! This answer is perfectly. I guess the coupes come standard with LEDs. Weird. But not I can be confident it’s no halogen.

Let me help you out. I did the ILS LED Conversion about two years ago now. I too was tricked by the dealer stating my vehicle had "full" LED however, my internet sales person was an idiot. I decided to buy the GLC43 anyway as in 2016-17 the "full" ILS LEDs were hard to get, as a tornado or hurricane damaged part of the factory where the lights were made in Japan. I ended up getting the GLC43 anyway as it had all of the other options I wanted. Not having the full LED lights bothered me and I went on a mission to get the ILS lights installed. Out of all the mods I have on my GLC, this was by far the best one as the light output is like night and day compared to the standard LED. I can only imagine the comparison to the halogens.

Pic 1: Is the standard LED lights installed. On top of the lights are the ILS LED set (OEM ebay for cheap). Dont mind the dirty engine bay it was like 38 degrees outside as I was doing this install.
Pic 2: Is a little recent with ILS fully installed. Two years with the lights on the GLC and no problem, active curve illumiation works well too.

Feel free to share more pics of your car at any time. I just ordered a 43 in Lunar Blue and it's hard to find photos in that color. It's gorgeous

What did the conversion cost you if you don't mind? Difficult to do the swap?
