Burmester Sound System - Comes Standard?

Not cheap though… However, if you were to buy the Burm system from Merc, the money spent could have netted you a great custom system anyway, perhaps with a few grand on top!?
Any Audiophiles May vouch for that!?
I cannot give a direct comparison between the Advanced Sound System and the Burmeister, however, I can say that the Advanced Sound System has plenty of power, good base, good clarity, and sounds clear. It does have "black speaker grills" and, as far as I know, looks like the "standard" sound system.
In writing this post, I must admit that I am still a bit confused about all of this because, while searching as background for this post, I came across documentation that says the Advanced Sound System is "standard" on GLC 300. Separately, I do not see the Advanced Sound System anywhere (as a standard feature or as an option) on the AMG GLC order guide ... but it IS on my order sheet and I did pay for it :-)
Anyway, I find it to be as good as the Bose system in my Cadillac SRX.

The advanced sound system is listed on the German website as an option, but it's not something that shows up on US order guides. They may have temporarily made it available as an upgrade option over the standard system due to the shortages. The 63 models are supposed to come standard with Burmester, but receive a credit if the car was built w/o it. but not clear if they then come with the advanced sound system instead.
As far as the Burmester goes I can't complain about how it sounds in my C63S coupe. My guess is it sounds better due to the smaller cabin than it does in the GLC. But between road noise and the sound of the engine and exhaust I don't expect concert hall sound. Most of the time I listen to music in the background like I do in an elevator. Really not the main focus in this beast. The source content plays a big role, though. Until recently I used to listen to SiriusXM mostly, but didn't renew last November as even at the promotional rates I've been getting it's not worth it given how much time I spend in the car. I realized I've never given HD Radio a chance and now listen mostly to my favorite local station on HD Radio and I must say, HD Radio actually sounds fuller and better than SiriusXM. They must use higher bitrates and wider channels for better quality. Sounds really good actually. I did discover that the Burmester sounds a lot better with the Surround Sound option turned on and the focus on the correct seats. I believe Surround Sound is off by default (it was in my car) and the sound is focused in the center of the cabin. Since I never really have anybody in the back I changed the focus to front. Noticeable difference. I also adjusted the bass to -1 I think, basically a bit more bass. Forget in which direction that is.
