High RPM in new cars (< 1000 miles)

Hey guys,

I heard that it's not preferable to increase the RPM in a new car at least for the first 500 miles or 1k. Is that true? And how would that affect the engine.

Thanks.

There are break in periods. I have never followed them. I don't keep the car long enough lol
If you don't plan to keep the car after the warranty expires, it really does not matter.

Everything in moderation. It is just fine to occasionally hit high RPMs during the break-in period. Vary your speeds. Let the engine and other internals get to operating temp.

Yes...read the owner's manual, it's in there. First 1k miles. If you don't follow the rules, your engine blows up.
