Windshield wipers hit hood on GLC 43
I went to clean the windshield on my 2020 GLC 43. When I pulled the wipers up I noticed they hit the hood. I have never owned a vehicle that didn't allow you to pull the wiper up and have them stay to clean the windshield. Is this typical?

Just found this out as well on my newly purchased 2017 GLE 400 with the AMG package. You can only raise the drivers side wiper a few inches otherwise it contacts the hood

There’s a specific way to bring the wipers to the upright position for service. They are designed to hide under the hood line for aerodynamic reasons. Consult the owners manual or YouTube for the service position instructions.

The procedure is on page 138 of the 2020 GLC owners manual (US edition C-2020):
Enter the maintenance position:
- Switch the ignition on and switch off again immediately.
- Within around 15 seconds, press the 'wipe with washer fluid' button on the combination switch for approximately three seconds
- The wiper arms will move into the replacement/maintenance position.
- Switch on the ignition.
- Press the 'washer' button on the combination switch.
- The wiper arms will move into the original position.
