This is so dumb. The GLC is a crossover. It's not an off road vehicle at all. It doesn't even pretend to be. The stability control is way too aggressive on this platform for it to ever be effective in mud, ice, gravel, or any limited grip on rough road beds. It doesn't matter how much cash and effort you throw after tires, fenders, and a suspension lift, the stability control will always bog down and chew up brakes.
With some of the older MB platforms the more aggressive nannies don't exist or can be easily circumvented. Trying to fully circumvent nannies in a newish GLC is going to be somewhat difficult even with brand support from AMG (good luck getting that, but props if you do). If you could actually turn all that **** off the GLC might be an interesting rally platform, but you can't so it ain't.
You're asking how to mod a hammer to make it better at driving screws. Best advise, get a friggin' screwdriver.

Over the years I have turned hammers into screwdrivers, ya can't turn a into a screwdriver into a hammer just not enough mass to play with.
I'm not asking anyone here how to do anything since no one has done anything that i've seen so far.
So many guys that buy these cars have zero clue as to what it is they bought, stick to lowered 1/4 times and cars and coffee..
If an old SL can do things it was never intended to do at all, why be so freakin narrow minded to think the GLC 63s isn't as capable or even superior at off road performance..
Some people wax their cars while others drive...wax will never be applied to my car.
oh stfu already. i do 1/4 mile, autoX, road racing, all in the same week.
you literally came here asking "what's the widest tire I can fit". the most generic clueless question on any car forum, but you want to talk down on cars and coffee or lowering cars?
you are not going to do anything remotely similar to the offroad concept.
you are not even going to put terrain tires
you do not even know that 29" tall tires are shorter than stock and you would be losing ground clearance with the tire size you were asking about.
you probably have the lowest mileage garage queen GLC63 here
you are a little man with a little voice and nobody cares about what pictures and videos you can dig up because you are just making noise.

bye boy!
Why do you keep coming back ?
My GLC is a month old and has 2,000 miles on it and is parked in the driveway..
I knew the stock front tires were 29.3" when I bought my car but you can keep repeating yourself..
Grinders, saws and whatever is needed to massage the wheel wells are at the ready..
I'm not going to compete in King of the Hammer..31.5" diameter
Look sweetie stick with your barbie and ken doll house and let the grownups build their rides
I am starting to get the feeling that none of the cars posted even belong to the OP.
We had the same scenario on my Home Theater forum. This guy was on it for years and we all liked him, he showed all kinds of pictures of his beautiful home, his cars and his HT systems. It all changed the day another buddy of ours sent him $6,000 to build him some speakers.
After going back and forth for over a year, my buddy somehow tracked him down and went to his house. It turns out he was a sad, 25 year old, jobless and living at home with mom and dad. His parents said he doesn't leave the basement much and they had no idea he was collecting money for things he would never build. It was surprising as he wrote very well and knew a lot of about HT and the science behind it.
Heck, I even sent him $200 to design a custom subwoofer. He provided all the CAD drawing and specs which I sent to a furniture maker and it was a great sub...

mine is "built" if putting wider tires is the equivalent of building. because that is what you came here asking for; how wide can I go. did you even look at the tire options for the size you were considering?
you are not building jack. you know it, I know it, everyone here knows it.
no knowledgeable person reduces the tire sidewall height while going from street tires to terrain tires. every single image or video you have posted with terrain tires has a tall tire sidewall for reasons that are obvious but lost on you.
you lost credibility when you started out asking about 4.5" sidewall tires to build an offroad vehicle.
i told you before, I will call you out all day on the cluelessness you demonstrated while helping you with useful information.
your turn. go again. maybe this time talk about your elementary school experience as you have cleared menstruation and barbie dolls.

All anyone has to do is read the letter from Bob Howe, former motorsports director of Ford Motorsports UK, or try Hemmings or Speedhunters and even Jay Leno
Gents - This is getting senseless, One of you, have to walk away! Life’s too short!
You are right now if these guys would just go away I could actually get on with my project other than proving people wrong all the damn time.
It may just give those with open minds another idea instead of the boring business as usual..
i told you last week you were not going to do it. i guess you were the last to find out.
here is simple logic as to why your excuse is bull****.
you were planning to run shorter 29" tires than stock 29.3" tires
You were "planning" to lift the car.
Both of those factors which you mentioned in your original post meant that you were going to have more clearance under the fender, and therefore not need to relocate anything.
Here is where you are going to say you were planning for a larger range of motion with some offroad shocks or some crap and I would remind you that urban assault = mall crawler and you were never going to put some offroad shocks to go to the Baja 500.
it's good that you accepted your reality though, you were living a good delusion for some time there.
Well the wheel wells just don't give any options for fitting larger off road tires, not that I wouldn't do it but couldn't due to the Mercedes engineering.
So I decided to go for a proper set of performance snows for better dirt road grip and winter traction.. 265/40/21 front 295/35/21 rear
Cooper Discoverer STT PRO is another option. I haven't actually had them mounted yet, but everything I have read is super positive and I look forward to getting them on. I saw someone on here https://www.corwheels.com/best-off-road-tires/ did have them mounted and he was happy.
Don’t be a douche, the Defender is one the of the most capable off-road SUVs you can buy.
Come on man, you know better than that. They do okay for what they are but nothing is a Jeep Wrangler besides a Jeep Wrangler. Sure, you can build a buggy that will out do a Jeep but nothing else. A built Defender couldn't hang, on the rocks that a stock Rubicon could easily do. I know my Rubicon on 35s would outperform a Defender, heck even my TRX on 37s probably would. Now a Defender for Overlanding or Rally racing, The Defender would be great.
When someone is just too braindead to understand what a proper alignment is on a lowered car and how to obtain it, that person should just go home and play with her dolls.
And when that same little girl doesn't know anything about Rally racing calling the worlds fastest Rally cars pooboxes, well then that little girl must have her monthly friend over for a visit.
