2020 GLC 63 Option

New to MB from Porsche.

I'm looking at two 2020s, one with AMG Performance DINAMICA/Carbon Steering Wheel and the other without.
I prefer the one without because of other options. What am I giving up for functions.

Nothing... the wheel you mentioned has faux suede (microfiber) with carbon fiber accents. The standard wheel is a nappa leather wheel. The only functional option is the AMG drive option (totally separate), which gives you the drive select knob and indicator on the right and a customizable 2 button toggle on the left in the thumb hole area.

Correct, the difference is only in what the steering wheel is wrapped in. Nappa leather, DYNAMICA or Carbon combinations. There are three optional steering wheels to the standard Nappa leather wrapped one and as correctly mentioned the AMG DRIVE UNIT can be added to all of them. The AMG DINAMICA Performance steering wheel must be paired with the AMG DRIVE UNIT. That's the only one that can't be had w/o it.

All of the functions are available in another location? Just not as convenient.

Yes, they are all available in the center console. The AMG DRIVE UNIT is great to change things on the fly while driving w/o having to look down to hit the correct button and I find changing the drive mode using a left/right rotation more intuitive than the up/down toggle in the center console and the best feature, IMO, is if you push it instead, it activates the Individual mode directly, so you don't have to toggle through a bunch of modes potentially to get back to your preferred setup. The center console buttons are great for when the car is stationary and for the things you change less frequently. For example I have the transmission mode and the exhaust mode mapped to the two buttons on the steering wheel as I change those most frequently. It really changes the driving experience for me.
