Auto-Start Dashcam in US 2021 Models

Anyone know if there's a setting to start the built in MB dashcam automatically? I see two options on my GLC – start recording or loop recording. If you turn the car off it says "cancelled recording" and you have to manually activate it again upon restarting the car.
If this is all that's possible the dashcam feature ($100) is totally useless.

You hit the nail! I got the dashcam on my 2021 GLC43 and it is a POS. You have to activate it each time, the loop feature only records for a short time (1 min. +?) and the camera picks up the reflection of the dash speaker cover distorting the recorded picture, displays speed in Kilometers/hour. The local MB folks do not know squat about the product. Not sure how you got a "deal" for $100 , the U21 (Dashcam) option is $200, not to mention the other bits and pieces you have to purchase to use it. I sent an E-mail to the MB folks, plus complained to the dealership, but don't expect much in a response. I would certainly not recommend this option. The ability you mentioned was one of my complaints also, MB dealer said they would look into my issues. IF I get a response I will post.

Thanks @bsaz – sorry to hear your experience has been similarly frustrating. I believe I read on another thread someone mentioned there may be region-specific restrictions (maybe US law for some reason does not allow auto-start recording)? I wonder if this is something that could be coded to enable.
I double checked and you are correct, I paid $200 for equipment 21U. Highway robbery.

I'm guessing the region-specific issue might refer to countries. This feature has been available in Europe for several years. If you check out U-tube there are multiple video's from Russia, some from MB cars. I heard that this is not an option in some countries but a requirement for newer vehicles, not sure, could just be rumor. Either way the point is this feature has been around for a while and should be better developed than it is. Your are right, just a matter of programming. Maybe somebody has a hack for some of these features. Check out the features of the KAMMU dashcam for Mercedes.
