Question GLC 63 AMG pre-purchase questions

Hi everyone,

First-time poster here, thanks for all the useful threads and discussions on this board; great seeing the perspectives of owners :-) I was looking for some input from GLC 63 AMG owners, as I am looking at purchasing a 2021 model. I presently drive an X3 M40i and have had various other BMWs in the last decade - considered the X3M but honestly the ride just isn’t great. Then went and test drove the 63 AMG and man, its good - love the V8 burble and the “drop the hammer” engine sound track; its a monster.
  • Any issues with kids in the car? We have an infant and it looks like their carrier should fit in the backseat without issue but would love to hear from first hand experienced.
  • Are there any maintenance issues to be aware of over time? What’s the usual maintenance schedule?
  • It seems like the MB-Tex vs Napa leather is part preference, so assuming I go for Napa leather, what’s the wear and tear like on it? I’m also super interested to understand what the color transfer is for the lighter colors and how easy that is to clean if it happens?
Thanks in advance for any information people want to share!

I have a 2018 63, and it has been great for lugging my son around. The isofix tethers are easy to use for attaching carseats, and my son always manage to sleep soundly even with the performance exhaust on! One of the reason I chose the GLC is because of the small SUV form factor which is convenient for hauling kids and stuff around, but not so big where you're lumbering about. It's sort of goldilocks size in my opinion.

Can't comment on the maintenance question since I purchased the 4-year prepaid maintenance package, but so far (34K miles) I've only done my normal scheduled visits and the occasional recall fixes.

My 63 came with the Nappa seats and I find them to be very good quality in terms of looks, suppleness and durability. No issues so far with the leather. However My wife has the new GLE450 with MB-Tex, and I find that material to be very good as well.

Thanks jamz, that's helpful - appreciate the perspective! Glad to know the engine note isn't bothersome for the little guys too - my wife was worried about that. We visited the dealership together today and went for a ride, she approves, so now its just about deciding on the packages / colors etc :-P
