Heavy Rain Handling? Slippery Mode?

Hi everyone, new guy here doing some research on the 43/63. I'm looking for owner feedback on how these vehicles handle in heavy rain. I tried searching this forum and came up empty. I have a 2016 CTS-V currently with 670 HP, but it's RWD and is sketchy as hell in the rain. Even driving it slowly in the snow/ice driver setting does not inspire confidence. And yes, I slow way down. Running Pilot Sport 4S with plenty of tread all around, I don't think it's the rubber.

Anyway, I have another fun toy for weekend stuff, and figured I'd replace the V with something that I'm not terrified to drive in the rain. Something with AWD. I'm wondering if the tire width on the 43/63 causes issues. Perhaps it'd be better if I look at the lower model trims? I just hate to do that, as the AMG packages are awesome and it only rains here 30% of the time. Would really like the power and style these cars have. Still, I want something safe-ish in inclement weather.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I can't speak directly to the GLC, but I can give you some perspective. Driving in the rain largely comes down to how well the tires expel water. The PS4S are actually rather good in the wet. I have them on my 2019 C63S coupe and had them on my previous RS5. I have no issue driving the C63 in the wet. Aside from the tires, the traction control system also plays a large role and the C63S has the same 9-stage traction control as the GT R, and it's excellent at managing traction. My guess is the CTS-V just doesn't manage traction very well. The Slippery mode in the newer AMGs simply reduces engine torque and feathers the throttle more, so you are less likely to have wheel spin of the line. Frankly, I have yet to have a need for it. I tried it a few times, but found it pointless. I have no issues in Comfort mode. The GLC has AWD, so I'd think the Slippery mode is even less effective. Probably more useful on snow or ice, which I don't have to deal with around here. Anyway, the wider the tires the likelier they aquaplane, so that's the biggest potential issue in the wet, especially if you encounter a lot of puddles and standing water, but I've never aquaplaned with a Michelin tire. I have with other brands, though.

The GLC 63 is a beast in the rain with PSP4's.

I am amazed that even when I am on my Stage 2, E30 tune, I can run very decent 0-60's in the rain. As far as normal highway driving in the rain, the GLC and PSP4's take it almost as good as dry.

Before buying GLC63S I owned both CTSV and ATSV.
I was never able to fully use the power on the street.
Now knowing how quick and how safe AWD cars are I will never buy another RWD car.
