AMG Dynamic Select options

Under AMG Dynamic Select per Individual Configuration (for my 21 GLC43), what is the respective performance impact on the Drive options: Reduced, Moderate, Sport, Dynamic? What exactly is changed for each?

I have tried each and notice performance differences. What I want to know is the technical meaning of Drive options: Reduced, Moderate, Sport, Dynamic.

These are different engine and transmission mappings. The different levels are associated with the drive modes. Reduced is used in Slippery mode, Moderate in Comfort, Sport in Sport and Dynamic in Sport+, so in Individual mode you can choose which level of engine and transmission mapping you want. The engine mapping controls how the engine responds to your throttle input. In Moderate it is somewhat feathered for comfort. The initial throttle pedal movement doesn't trigger as much of a response from the engine and for similar power you have to move the pedal further. In Sport the response is more immediate, and in Dynamic even more. Reduced reduces the torque and power overall to make it easier to start of on a slippery surface w/o spinning the wheels. The engine map also changes the ignition timing. In Dynamic the combustion cycle is extended in the overrun to produce the pops&bangs. Basically part of the combustion is extended so that some of the fuel continues to burn whille the cylinder exhausts valves are open already.

The transmission mapping on the other hand controls when the transmission will upshift and downshift. In Moderate it upshifts sooner and downshifts later to keep the rpms lower. As you move up the level, it will hold gears longer and downshift sooner for a better response. The shifts themselves will also become more crisp and faster in Sport and especially Dynamic and this will also carry over to the Manual mode. The shift will be sharper and faster in Manual mode and Dynamic vs. Moderate for example.

thank you! great explanation(s)! now, back to experimenting (and thoroughly enjoying) my new ride. It doesn't take much to make a 74 yo like a kid again.

AMG DYNAMICS is an extension of ESP and it actively controls the handling and traction. It's basically a proactive ESP with active driving dynamics. Below is a link that describes it in the context of the AMG GT. It's the same on other models. The system was introduced with the GT R Pro and then made it to the other AMG models. It's quite fascinating. It's hard to feel it work, but it gives the cars a different level of agility and very predictive handling.
