2020 Facelift Taillights for Pre-facelift GLC

Highly recommend doing this upgrade to your GLC but didn't see much info on the swap in the forums. I used the CKM Car designs adaptor kit but it didn't come with that great of instructions(NEED TO HAVE LED FROM FACTORY, the advanced lighting package). The kit comes with two adaptors, one with a shorter wire and one with a longer wire. These adaptors go to the lights furthest out(the ones mounted to the body, not to the rear hatch). To get to the lights and rear SAM module, you will need to remove two T-40 bolts hidden in the cargo tie down points on the right side of the vehicle. The trim cargo trim and rear hatch trim should pop off the clips. As you start to disconnect the old lights you will need to trim the small plastic pieces off the connectors in order to fit them into the facelift lights.

After cutting the little prong on the clips, the lights on the hatch should work, then you will have to move to the rear SAM module and unplug Heck D clip.

After unclipping it, you will have to take the white cover off(it’s already off in the photo). Then you will have to remove pin 5 and 8 on the black side and replace them with the ones from the aftermarket adapters.

The adapter kit comes with the same colored wires so there shouldn’t be any mixups in wire placement.

After installing the new pins in, all lights should be in working order. I would recommend testing all the lights at this point before putting everything back together. The rings will only turn on when the headlights are turned on. The only issue I have run into is when I turn on the turn signals, I get a message to “Check Right/Left Turn Signal”(but both turn signals work fine). Then the car starts to use the twice faster turn signal. I just hit “ok” and continue. It’s not really that big of a problem, just minor inconvenience. If anyone as any solution, I’m all ears. It might be something to do with the new turn signal using less energy but they work. 🤷🏼‍♂️
(Also installed, facelift diffuser and tailpipes)

Hi,
I did the same thing on the weekend turned out great, my turn signals work perfectly though, not too sure what the issue is with yours.
My instructions were in German so it was a mission to figure out, at one point I have the reverse light always on but then i switched the two pins 5,8 arround and it works perfectly now.

I am in the same boat as you. I much prefer the PFL taillights.

IMO the older tailights have design fault. Seen from aside inner and outer sections look with different brightness. That is due to fact that light guides in outer section is much longer and also curved, than in inner part. For this reason I am considering to drill 4 holes and to try to mount 4 LED

s (in pink circles) in order to increase the Light flow. In original lights there are 4 leds mounted inside in area of blue rectangular. The idea is to mount buster LEDs on opposite side(in yellow rect). The space between two section of tailights is considered enough to accommodate this modification. The el supply is still in question how to be done. If I fail will buy the New one with new design. For led it is possible to use part of led strip with 4 leds.
