Anyone been able to get around the dealer markup?

I’ve been on the hunt for a GLC63 for months now, especially after my order got cancelled. I inquired on just about every 2021 that’s available for sale in the country, all have the crazy markup which I refuse to pay. Have any of you been able to land one while avoiding the markup? I notice most of them are still for sale which hopefully means most others are refusing the markup as well. Do you guys think dealers will eventually drop the markup or just hold them until someone caves?

Oh really? Any idea if it’s a coupe or SUV style? I’m looking for the standard SUV style. Can you DM me his info if you don’t mind?

I'm curious what are the current markups?

If you are open to buying one used I have a 2020 Polar White with Red Pepper interior that I may put on the market soon.

So far the cheapest I’ve found was $10k after haggling a bit, the highest was $20k. Most are at $15k. I am open to purchasing a used one, as long as it’s 2020 or newer. I have a few specific options I really want but I might have to let some of that go.

2022 are coming out already... dealer can mark up all they want. Once the chip shortage is done, they're going to beg to sale those cars.

I would wait another 6 months.

I agree and will continue to be patient. Unfortunately for the GLC63 there will be no 2022s which is why the markups are so high right now. I would wait another year if I knew I would be able to put an order in for a 2023 but there has been no news on whether it will be back for 2023 or not.

There will be no 2022 GLC 63-- they're killing the V8s in almost everything. The 2023 will be a 4-banger. The current supply of 2021 models is all you have-- or will ever have.

IT will be a 4-cyl by most reports, but not a dog. I will have a hybrid powertrain and will keep the same performance orientation. It will be plenty fast out of the factory, and I'm sure, within not very long if not immediately, tunable.

Be prepared to pay more in the future even after the chip shortage has resolved. The shortage has been somewhat of a boon for the car manufacturers despite the headaches that came with it. Big discounts may be a thing of the past, and markups may stay due to deliberate undersupplying.

I have no doubts it will still be a very capable vehicle, and am eager to see how they perform. As someone who has owned a couple of twin turbo V6s, I just wanted to experience the V8 platform. And Mercedes is one of the best around, that sound is so distinct and I hope I get the opportunity to own one.

Sound about right, I assumed the jacked up prices would be around for a while. Im
not even looking for a discount, I just want to pay MSRP lol.

Looks like they’re just marking up everything. I was going to cave and get a GLE53 since they’re readily available. I went to order one this morning and my dealer notified me that there is in fact a markup on those as well, even on orders. Guess it just wasn’t meant to be.

Apparently, it wasn't the chip shortage:

I call BS on the perceived quality issues. The G550 has an engine in it that's been in production for what nearly 15 years now? The 4.0L V8 has been around since the early 2010s, so at least 10 years. Both the 550 & the 4.0L V8 have proven quite reliable over the years. Maybe it's an issue with quality upstream in the supply chain, but that'd still be a supply chain issue, not a quality issue at MB specifically.

I call it BS as well and i believe they are just moving into some form of hybridisation which is more efficient and can help to keep those EPA guys off their back for a while.

Same day they posted this article https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a3...ep-making-v8s/

Well it’s good to hear they’re planning for another decade of the V8s, hopefully that is true and they stick with it.

That may be true, but they didn't disclose what vehicles they'll be in. I'd bet my bottom dollar it'll be E Class (or SUV equiv.) and up. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if V8 was reserved for the likes of the AMG GT cars and maybe the S & G class.

Yeah that’s a good point and I’m willing to bet you’re right. Just unfortunate for consumers but I understand from the business end. I’m going to keep looking and trying a little bit longer for a GLC63 but ultimately think I’ll just hold out until I can order an SQ8. Unless they decide to cancel the V8 too, then I just give up lol.

I think Indy still has that grey GLC63 SUV style. Not sure if there is a markup on it or not.

Indy actually has another one that I was really interested in and I did try and get it, but they will not come off the markup unfortunately.

wow. We go from 10% under MSRP Pre-COVID to this? I wish I could sell and delay a new car a couple years!
