sound from the Burmester system is missing
- Only the sound from the Burmester system is missing!
- CD player reads the disc but will not play any tracks!
- Audio/COMAND display and Audio/COMAND control panel Touchpad are working normally.
- Feedback sounds on start-up can be heard!
- Replaced all associated fuses: 423, 461, 462 with no effect.
I would like to find the amplifier module and check the connections and see if there has been any water ingress but where is it?

The system is driven from a "header" unit that is strapped to the CD Player in the dash. There are 2 fibre-optic cables that connect this unit to the amp in the boot. My guess is that the header unit may be OK as satnav, bluetooth, etc. all work perfectly. Power comes from a fuse in the nearby fuse-panel down the side of the footwell... possibly MF2/2?
I am not sure what to try next! How to test the fibre-optics and should I remove the amp in the boot and have a closer look?
I have added a pic of the back of the header. The fibre-optic cables are the pink ones on the right.

It reminds me of the control unit that MB mounted in a similar place on the SLK, resulting in the same disaster... that was 20 years earlier so why didn't they learn from their mistake?
what really concerns me is how it became soaked in water and is there a mod that can avoid water ingress?
