I have the IMI-1000 kit installed in my 2016 GLC 43. It's much better than the factory stuff. There are a few little glitches, but overall, it's better than what I had. If you're going to do this install, I'd probably opt for DMP 12.3" Android screen solution. I might do this at a later point so I can have a touchscreen.
A few things that I have trouble with: 1) I have to put the car in R then D to get the front camera to come on. If I go straight into D, it just gives me a black screen. 2) The touchpad only works to move the cursor around, but you cannot select anything with it 3) Sometimes when I select something, the cursor resets and I have to go through and find the "button" I wanted to select and do it again.
4) When my partner gets in the car, her phone connect to Command so when she gets a call, it comes through the speakers even if I'm connected to CarPlay
I have the IMI-1000 installed in my E350 W212. I located it in the glove box under the air conditioning vent. See Photo
While it is working it is an amazing upgrade. I say while it is working because I needed a replacement due to issues when it got hot as it will if not installed in a well ventilated location.
Presently I'm waiting for a resolution to a CanBus issue. The cursor control stops working after restarting the engine and needs a full reset to bring it back to life.
The joystick function is not affected but is limited in its functionality.
