Do turbo engines turn your oil black?
Weird question here. I don't drive much, so I only change my oil about once a year (~2500-3000 miles). At this point I'm changing it simply because it's old, not because I've driven a lot of miles. However, the oil was pretty black when it came out today. I know black oil doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, but the guy at the shop said the turbo in my AMG engine makes the oil darken faster. Is this true? Can anyone explain this to me? I'm just curious, that's all.

Im real satisfied how my oil looks at 8-10k, Amsoil 5-40 European. I saw a few documented oil analysis
with same result on my last
car 2008 V6 VW R32, The Amsoil reduces wear metals by 50%. But somehow I have to watch oil level it will take
1/2 the range of the dipstick indicator between 10k oil changes but my dealer always short sticks me
and I get it back in the middle of the range after changes. At 32k I am carefully documenting how much I consume.
this time maybe some of my earlier observations was from dealer not returning it completely full.
Anyway check your level after oil changes.
