Add Performance Exhaust button

Just bought a 2020 GLC63S and am loving it so far. It was something of an impulse buy, so I didn't do much homework and it was only after I started reading up on various features I realized mine doesn't have the performance exhaust adjustment button on the right side of the console. Also the "adjust performance exhaust" option is not included among the options on the adjustable AMG button on the bottom left of the steering wheel. My assumption is that, being a 2020 build, the performance exhaust adjustment features were deleted because of supply chain issues. My question is whether I can add it now.

The button doesn't have any function unless you have the corresponding exhaust. The AMG Performance Exhaust was optional on many models. If you don't have the button, then you have the standard non-performance exhaust. So you'd have to first replace the exhaust. If you go down that route, you might as well just replace it with an aftermarket exhaust.

It is a AMG C63S, so I'd be surprised if it doesn't have a performance exhaust. Notwithstanding it doesn't have the adjustment button, the exhaust sound is very noticeable, especially in Sport+ and Race driving modes. By way of comparison, I had a 2018 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and IMO it's louder than the Trackhawk when in sport/track modes.

GLC 63 S and C 63 S are different cars, so which one do you have? Either way, I found the DOG for MY20 GLC and the AMG Performance Exhaust is supposed to be standard. Something AMG has done in recent FL models as most people optioned it anyway. So not sure what's up with your car, because the performance exhaust would mean that it has the button. Most likely as you said something didn't make it due to the ongoing shortages, but the question is what. The AMG Performance Exhaust w/o the button essentially isn't an option that normally exists, so not sure what's actually in your car. Although this is for the USA, where the GLC 63 S is only sold as Coupe. I see you are located in Canada. Under normal conditions, not having the button means the entire AMG Performance Exhaust option is missing. You can check the build sheet of the car. The option code for the performance exhaust is U78. It'll be listed if your car has it.

It is a 2020 AMG GLC 63S and it is not the coupe (I am in Canada) - sorry for the confusion. As per my last post, I am confident it does have the "performance exhaust" that comes standard with AMGs (i.e. I can't believe it's possible that MB would have made a AMG without a performance exhaust). I bought a new 2023 car this summer that was missing several features it was supposed to have (heated steering wheel, power liftgate) and the sales manager told me it was because of supply chain issues - demand for vehicles was so intense, the manufacturers were leaving things out that were severely back ordered to try to meet demand. I suspect that might be what happened here, but am hoping it might not be too difficult to add it now.

They most certainly make AMGs w/o the performance exhaust. That's what I was trying to tell you. The AMG Performance Exhaust is optional, but some markets have decided to offer it standard. So it's very well possible that if there was a shortage of a part required for the AMG Performance Exhaust that they built your car with the standard exhaust. The standard exhaust still changes sound between the modes, but the performance exhaust is valved in addition, which is what the button is for.

What he said-it is not a standard feature on all models in certain markets. My 2021 C63 came with it as did my 2022 GLC 43 but it was an "option" on the build sheet and if I remember right it is approx a 1250 dollar option.

I bought it used and didn't get a build sheet, so can't confirm whether it includes the performance exhaust option code - I'll ask the dealership for the build sheet when I take it in for service the first time. I'd be surprised, frankly, if performance exhaust came standard on US spec GLC 63S, but not on Canadian spec cars but who knows. I suppose mine could have been some kind of custom order with performance exhaust deleted.

If my doesn't have performance exhaust, what would it have? i.e. it surely can't have the same exhaust MB would put on a non-AMG GLC or even a AMG GLC 43, given the HP differential.

You can try one of the online VIN decoders like https://www.lastvin.com/ or https://www.mbdecoder.com/. Their databases are not always updated and it may not find your VIN. You'd still have an AMG specific exhaust of course, but a less aggressive and sporty one than the AMG Performance Exhaust.

In Canada it is called: DA1- AMG Driver's Package

It has: performance exhaust, AMG performance steering wheel in nappa/Dinamica, AMG Track Pace, 21" wheels, top speed raised to 250km/h, some other goodies

The performance exhaust is/was 100% an optional item of the GLC63s in Canada.

Contact a dealer and give them your VIN. Ask for a list of the packages on your car. I suspect you dont have the performance exhaust.
