GLC63 vs Aston Martin DBX707

I haven’t really seen this discussed here, but isn’t it crazy that the $240k AM DBX707 has virtually the same drivetrain as the GLC63? The m177 v8 and the 9 speed MCT.

Yes, it has the twin scroll turbo setup like the larger AMG Mercedes models, but still, this makes the GLC63 an insane bargain (I bought mine for $42k). Does anyone know if there are any internal differences between the engines? It would be comforting to know there are versions of this engine with a reliable 700hp.

Not sure I would use the word reliable in the same sentence with MB, particularly in relation to a 50% power increase.

If you are going down the road of power mods best to see what higher power variants are using for bearings and caps. If the crank from the lowest power variant doesn’t fall out of the block at at higher pwr levels then you can build on it.

Pwr and tq mean higher bmep so pistons, rings, rods, crank and caps (bearings also assumed) need to carry the higher forces.

Ouch… that hurt just a little. What year?

I’ve got a 2020, and had her assembled to my specs in Germany. Really wanted the S for that additional punch to 509HP, but only way I could have pulled that off was to go directly to Germany to purchase there, THEN shipped her. She arrived at my house (dealership delivered) about 20 days AFTER the pandemic was declared. Really got lucky that she was already made and was making the voyage to the states whilst the world fell to ****.

Absolutely it can handle 700 hp without blowing up. Eurocharged has stage 2 tunes that literally get it right there reliably. If you upgrade the turbos and get some extra fueling, youll be past 750 easily. Dont be foolish with it and it'll last.
