2018 GLC43 Front Tires
Hi Guys !
Im new here , just bought a 2018 GLC43 AMG this week , first mercedes-benz for me .
The vehicle currently have 255/40zr21 continental contisportcontact 5P at the front and 285/35zr21 at the back. Unfortunately the front tires are near end of life . I havent been able to find the exact same model of tires , the contisportcontact 5p in that size is BO everywhere in my area .
I was wondering if using continental sport contact 6 at the front would cause any issue? Same brand , same size , but different model . Both tire are very similar in specs . I think thread wear is slightly different.
The vendor where I bought the car. Wich isn't a mercedes dealer . Told me that is mandatory to use the same exact model of tires on both front and rear. I agree that size is very important , but model ...
So my question is , is there a risk of damage in the drivetrain , using 2 differents models but same brand of tires between front and rear .

As long as the size load and speed ratings are the same you should be fine.
Conti 6 or even 7’s would absolutely work.
I myself bought a used 2021 and the rears are still ok for another summer season but the fronts have already been replaced once and will probably need to be replaced the same time as the rears. Fronts look to wear at a quicker rate than the rears.
