New to MB. Help with infotainment

Hello all,

Looking into getting a 2019 GLC 63 but I am lost with the infotainment. Love everything about this specific one and getting a nice deal on it, just don’t like the small screen. It has wired CarPlay which I don’t mind, but the tinny screen really is an eye sore to the nice interior. I use 99.9% my phone for audio so sound quality is very important to me. With that in mind, what are the options to get a bigger screen and which infotainment is on this GLC?

Thank you

Wondering if the pre face lift has smaller screen or are the same as 2020-2021. BTW get a lighting to usb bluetooth adapter for your phone, its a nice little upgrade. Screen doesn't open all the way up left to right, I know on the BMW plateform it can be coded to fill the screen, not sure if it can with ours or not. Not a deal breaker imho compared to no bluetooth connecting to the phone.

The pre-facelift has a smaller screen than facelift yes that is correct and the facelift runs MBUX 1.0 (NTG 6.0) opposed to COMAND (NTG 5.0).

That said, the image shown does seem like a smaller screen than expected, perhaps it has Audio20 and not COMAND optioned? Or maybe that indeed is the COMAND screen. I notice the touchpad is missing in that particular image that is why I thought it had Audio20.

OP, if that is the only issue you have, you could always go aftermarket and get an Android screen or something.

The missing touch pad is what’s confusing me. Finding it odd that has the Burmester sound and wired CarPlay but with this tiny screen.

I seen few different upgrades but not sure which is compatible.

The picture above is from the actual car.

Edit: Just found the build sheet…AUDIO 20 RADIO NAVIGATION CAPABLE NTG5

This particular vehicle appears to have Audio20 with the smartphone integration package. The lack of touchpad indicates that it doesn't have COMAND, so does the presence of CarPlay. Prior to MBUX and NTG 5.5, CarPlay was available for certain model years via the optional smartphone integration package in the C and GLC. This package was not compatible with COMAND, so the car had to be either optioned with COMAND or the smartphone package. Unfortunately, w/o COMAND it has an even smaller screen. The only upgrades are essentially aftermarket Android units that completely replace what this particular vehicle has. This generation of model always had a small screen, though. The widescreen came with the facelift models, 2020+ in case of the GLC and 2019+ for the C. Those also have COMAND or MBUX with standard CarPlay/Android Auto in the US.

If you are particular about the Infotainment system, I wouldn't get this vehicle. Look for a 2020 or newer. They come with digital instrument cluster as well.

I’m not opposed to doing the android screen upgrade, just need to see which one will work. If my theory serves me right, I should still be able to use the CarPlay that came with the car since all original system should be working. I was originally looking for a 2020+ 63S but I can’t beat the deal I’m getting on this one.

Thanks for the education on the infotainment.
