Road Top CarPlay unit - What does prompt for air-conditioning mean?
Hi, I recently installed a Road Top unit on my 2018 GLC 43 AMG, which gives me Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto. They are selling them for under $200 on their official website now and I would highly recommend it at that price.
One thing is bugging me though. I can't seem to figure out what this "Prompt for air-conditioning" setting is for. I turned it on and haven't noticed it doing anything.
A really annoying aspect of the device is that changing the climate controls doesn't show anything on the screen. You need to exit out of the device back to the OEM software in order to see the climate controls. I was thinking this setting might do something with that. Like maybe prompting you to switch over to the OEM screen when you press one of the climate control buttons? Maybe it is supposed to do that and it just doesn't work with my car? Looking around online, it looks like these devices are pretty standard across various makes and models of vehicles. But I haven't seen a single reference to this particular option.
Does anyone have one of these units and knows what this option does? I seem to have a recent revision of this device, so maybe it's new?
Also, if anyone has any other various questions about the device, let me know.
