Should I Get A GLC64 or keep my GLC43
So I finally got around to test driving the 2021 GLC63S with 22,000 miles at Carmax. Price is $64,000 + tax/license, or $71.198 out the door. They are holding it for me to 3/20 so I can decide. Definately different from my GLC43. I think the car is pretty special...last year GLC had the V8, S version, driver assist option, low mileage and looks almost new. Having said that, I'm trying to determine exactly where I can let the car loose. Maybe Sonoma raceway? Roads in the Bay Area are really congested. The only place that comes to mind are freeway on ramps or on the highway late at night. And unless I also keep the C43, the C63S will have to double as my daily driver. 95% of my driving is within a few miles of home on surface streets. Not ideal for a C63S. Plus, if I keep the C43, I only have a one-car garage; they other will have to do with a waterproof car cover either on the street or in the driveway, or buy a storage space at about $300/mo. minimum. I kind of want to buy it just because of it's rarity (unless MB goes back to V8 for GLC like some models will be in 2026). I can always buy it and return within 10 days, although I'd not feel great doing that. Decisions, decisions.

It will cost you 50 percent more for this car just to buy. The loss on your current one plus the price difference . How long are going to keep the cars. How much of a difference in loss on them when you sell? What would it be be like on a daily basis? Would you be glad you spent the extra money? Or feel it was silly impulse buy? If you use your current car as a trade in, that will lower your tax basis on the new car by the trade in amount. It may be cheaper to rent an interesting ride now and then on Turo and resolve to go big next time.

The 43 is definately a worthy upgrade. The V6 is pretty sweet. The 63 is a more difficult choice as the maintenace is a lot more than the 43 and apparently goes through tires and brakes much more quickly. As an example, a full set of OEM rotors and brake pads is 5k (without installation) for the 63 vs. 1k for the 43. Huge difference. After-market parts are much closer in price, though. The labor charges are also higher on the 63. Plus worse gas milage on the 63. The 43 is a pretty decent compromise. Still, the 63 is really nice and almost a collectible in my view, especially the S version.
According to your public forum profile you have a 2020 GLC 63 though : )
