Why no full-screen Android Auto on M-B screens?

Why can't/won't M-B implement a full-screen Android Auto as it's done in so many other car brands?(this is in a Jeep Sahara); it's so much better...

There are multiple threads about this already, so do a search. The short of it is that this was a step backwards when individual models got MBUX. Android Auto has always been a bit of a step child, but Apple CarPlay was full screen in COMAND 5.5, the predecessor to MBUX. I have COMAND 5.5 in my 2019 C63S Coupe and it's full screen and wide screen. When MB shoehorned MBUX into the existing wide screen models, they made it touchscreens, so to the left and right of CarPlay/Android Auto are the home and message touch buttons. The screens are effectively not wide enough to have an area for touch controls that relate to MBUX such as the home button next to CarPlay/Android Auto. That's because the latter only support a few discrete aspect ratios. The screen you have in your car is 21:9, but because MBUX uses part of it for the home/message button, they have to use the 16:9 aspect ratio for CarPlay/Android Auto, so that's why it's not full screen anymore. This is all fixed again in the latest models with the big screens in the center and MBUX 2. There CarPlay/AA are full width again. MBUX 1 was kind of a flop quite honestly, and took several steps back from the prior COMAND 5.5.
