Cost of Ownership of my 2018 GLC43
I just joined the community and wanted to share my cost of ownership of my previous vehicle (2018 GLC43) which I sold recently. I bought it in 2021 as the second owner. Here are the numbers from 2021 till 2026.

Purchase price in 2021 (including 3 years additional CPO warranty + wheel/tire package + windshield/paint protection + tax) $48,000 all-in

Total maintenance: $16,575 over 4.5 years
Total miles driven: 96500-38800 = 57,700 miles over 4.5 years = 12,8222 miles/year
Gas: $15,500 over 4.5 years
Insurance: $7,720 over 4.5 years
Total cost to run (maint + gas + ins): $39,795 over 4.5 years = $8,845 /year = $0.68 /mile
Net cost (purchase $ - sale $): $48,000-$20,000 = $28,000 over 4.5 years = $6,222 /year = $0.48 /mile
Total cost to own over 4.5 years (Depreciation + Maint + Gas + Ins) = $67,795 = $15,065 /year = $1.17 /mile
There are certain things I would have done differently, like shopping around for better insurance rates, coordinating maintenance services. I am still 50/50 on the additional CPO warranty, I got two tire services and one A service done on it, but I paid more than I received. Although that peace of mind is worth it sometimes.
I love AMGs and Mercedes brand overall. I have shopped around and looked at Audi, BMW, etc.. nothing comes close to the features and class that Mercedes offers. The brake hold feature on Mercedes is unique and I have not seen it on other brands. Let me know if I am wrong.
Mercedes has introduced cheaper interior material and some parts that are not as long lasting as they used to be, especially in the A, B, and C classes, but most brands suffer from cost cutting measures now-a-days.
I have my eyes on a 2021 GLE53 Coupe right now. I am not onboard with the new GLC class, every thing is either a touch screen or a touch button. I drove a 2025 GLC300 for a week and could not get used to the touch buttons everywhere. Even the cup holders are placed vertically now. Very awkward to pick your drink if there are two in a row. I am glad the rocker roller buttons on the steering wheel are coming back, but the roller type operator wheel in the center console on my GLC43 was extremely easy to use and required minimal precision and attention.
Anyway, my ramblings will never stop. I do miss my GLC43 but am excited to move on to my next AMG.

I also own a 2018 GLC43. It only has 21K miles on it...yeah, I have 5 cars so I don't drive this one all the time. The most expensive thing was the $5,500 that it cost me to repair mouse damage to the wiring....Other than that, just oil changes which I do myself. Although, later on this year, I will be getting new tires...Looking at the Micheline Cross Climate 2. This will cost me about $1,600 at Costco...mounting and balancing. But in the 20K miles I've owned this vehicle, (purchased new for $75K) I've paid for just gasoline and insurance, which is quite cheap...This is the only vehicle I own with full coverage, so total insurance for all 5 vehicles is $2,500 per year. This next maintenance is going to be a little more expensive because I have to replace the airfilters for the first time along with the oil change. I anticipate about $200 total in parts...this includes both cabin air filters as well. I anticipate that this car will last me 20 to 30 years at this rate, which is not bad considering that my next newest car is a 2012 and after that, a 2005, then a 1998 and then a 1989! They all are fantastic vehicles and I love to drive them all!
- It is AMG. Everything costs premium.
- I treated my GLC43 as my daily driver. Put on some good mileage.
- I got all my service done at the dealership.
- Got a few big maintenance and repair bills as expected when it gets to higher mileage.
- Living in colder state, add more costs such as winter tires.
- My insurance did drop a little once I hit my age milestone.
