Euro options
Would you pay an extra $4,800 for cooler brakes? Functionally I would only think that warranted if this were a track car or for extreme off road. Europeans have more choice, but almost everything is an option and the end result is they pay way more on average, even before the 19% VAT.

Can Gov't Shutdown Delay Deliveries of 2020 V167 GLe
Just saw this item on Autoweek and wondered if the 2020 V167 GLE has received the formal EPA approval.
January 18, 2019How the government shutdown could delay new vehicle launches
Remember, new cars need approval from the EPA, which is a government agency

Question
A question: My build comes to about $86k, and I’m not even getting the E-ABC. Anyone think that’s crazy? Is it too much money to spend on a non-AMG GLE? I understand, it is what it is, it’s well optioned, it’s a great car, etc. But I feel like I’m spending too much and should be exploring options like Porsche, Audi, etc. Just looking for additional thoughts...

I think the decision rests with your situation. How long will you keep it?....the longer the less I’d care about price. Do you want more performance and want to wait? There’s probably no right answer but IMO get what you want so there’s no buyers remorse. At most the decision for more options may only make a few thousand difference over time. On the other hand I might not be in a position to give objective advice since.😏

With 450's easily pushing $85k-$90k, it appears if one wants a more reasonablely priced GLE you need to settle for the 350, but unfortunately it's now a 4 banger (not very fond of these). I spec'd out a new 19 BMW X5 with the six and it was $82 with m spec and exec etc, within direct striking distance of a similarly equipped 19 3.0 Q7 at $85k which is built in Europe and more expensive to produce. Seems like the US made suvs may no longer be the better bang for the buck.

Government shutdown effect?
Someone posted here this afternoon about whether the shutdown of the EPA could have an impact on the GLE launch, then deleted the post. I think it's a reasonable question since certification is required. I would think that would be completed by now but it's a question.

My post # 1982 and my first post. regrettably it needed serious editing because of my inexperience. If you check it now I think the link to the Autoweek story will work. My build is scheduled for the 2nd week in February, so I asked my dealer about the story and his response was 'we'll just have to wait and see.' so I thought I'd ask the Forum.

Fake Exhaust
Did you ever see/get a Canadian Dealer Order Guide? It could very well be that the Canadian Sport Package is different than the US AMG Line Exterior Package. The US package information clearly indicates the exhaust should be "functional."

The Canadian DOG isn’t very detailed. Historically, the packages have always differed between our two markets. Heck, we even had the B-Klasse that the US never did, just as an example.
Here’s to hoping this was simply a pre-production model for display purposes and the production models have the functional exhausts. It’s not a deal breaker, obviously, just a minor irritant.

Personally, I don't get all the fuss over the exhaust tips. What difference does it make if the exhaust exits under the bumper or through the bumper? Is it simply because some feel it looks cool to see exhaust coming through the bumper? It's a family SUV, not a sports car. And I know my comments will get some of you all riled up but I just don't understand the fuss.

It doesn’t bother me a lot but I understand the issue. A lot of inexpensive cars have real ones and these are FAKE. Fake diamonds, fake leather, fake exhausts aren’t in keeping with the Luxury image. Mercedes might help things by making a case for the change.

Fakery
Touche’. I like the Dinamica because it is warmer in Winter & cooler in Summer than leather. I would prefer leather surrounds to the MB-Tex. This is a choice driven partly by trying to exercise some cost control after getting the very expensive suspension. I have leather in both my current cars which I would still choose if cost were no object.
