When I connect my phone to my new GLE I lose all sound on phone. Text messages, etc, nothing comes through not on phone or car. If I disconnect the music part of the phone it works. Is this normal and is there anyway to disconnect music so I don't have to manually turn it off every time I start the car?

Is there any other device I can use for music other then my Iphone?

Any USB flash drive should work for downloaded music. They used to have a SD card slot - probably not anymore?

problem with that all ports are usb c.

There are USB c flash drive, or you can use an adapter. An adapter with a short extension cable like is not bad as you won't get a USB drive sticking out and in the way.
