Advanced Lighting Package

Hi All - I just ordered a nicely optioned 350 with an expected delivery in September. The one option I debated but ultimately passed on was the Advanced Lighting Package. I'm coming from a 2016 GLE 350 that had the standard headlights which were shockingly bad halogen bulbs. The salesman told me the standard LED headlights on the 2020 GLE are very good and he hasn't had any complaints. My other car has adaptive highbeams and I never use it. Given that I can't test drive at night, just wondering how people feel about the standard LED headlights? I can still modify my order but would rather not pay the extra money for something that I really don't need.

Thanks.

I have the standard headlights and I think they and the highbeams work extremely well

Even on the rental GLC I drove the headlights were impressively bright. I only wish there were some fog lights available.

Aren't they built in to main assembly now?

Fog lights?

I know that's true at least for the MultiBeam units; not sure about standard.

"The headlamps also have the right answers to inclement weather conditions that often lead to irritating reflections: in unfavorable light conditions, the extended fog light function illuminates the outer half of the road lane more brightly. Adverse weather light is activated when the windscreen wipers are operating constantly, specifically dimming individual LEDs in rainy and wet conditions. The two together ensure that oncoming traffic and the driver suffer less dazzle." - Daimler press release

I have the advanced lighting package and I think it is awesome. From a brightness standpoint I don't have anything to compare it to other than my old 2001 G, but having it revert to the high beam when there is no car in front of you is nothing short of awesome. And it does light up everything including the surrounding areas incredibly well. I highly recommend it, you won't regret it.

I agree that the LED Intelligent Light System is superb compared to my '12 Halogen Intelligent Lighting; too bad it is dumbed down for the US because of regulations. I am hopeful that when that changes it can be upgraded with software. That being said, it is fairly expensive so if you are trying to keep costs down you could forgo it. It is however, required to qualify for the top IHS safety rating.

I agree that the advanced light system is amazing. Would never order without it.
