I did find a reputable powder coater in my area and they said about 5-7 days for the wheels to be done. But yes would have to put the GLE on blocks for a week. But better then spending thousands on custom aftermarket wheels that might not fit right.

2020 GLE 350 Tire/Wheel Package- Aftermarket

I had the same problem and have a solution. I bought a 2020 GLE 350 (basic model not AMG) and hated the 19 inch wheels which showed way too much wheel well. After lots of research and effort I was able to find an aftermarket wheel that worked. As mentioned in other posts, the problem with aftermarket wheels are that MB uses a different lug bolt and the aftermarket wheels do not work with them.

My solution. I went to Direct Tire in the Boston area and the owner worked with me to come up with a workable solution. He ended up special ordering the required lug bolts from a custom manufacturer in Italy. That process took about 6 weeks but he made sure to order in bulk in case any other MB customers needed them. I wanted to go with a 21 inch wheel/tire combo but he advised against it. We ended up selecting a 20 inch wheel/tire package that IMO looks a lot better than the stock wheels. Total cost for everything was about $2,400 which is still a lot cheaper than upgrading to MB wheel/tire package.

Here is the tire/wheel package that I went with: Asanti 10-spoke wheel (20 in.) Bottom of wheel is stainless steel so it won’t get corroded. It’s a wider wheel with tires 275 45 20 size. Tire Rack sells Asanti wheel for $349 ea. Direct Tire price is $320 ea. [$1,280 total] Nokian tire sale buy 3 get one free. It’s $289 per tire plus $25 installation. Total cost before labor: $2,247 plus tax.

Hope this helps my friend. It was a pain in the neck for me to go through all this nonsense. I am currently trying to add some additional accessories, i.e. illuminated running boards, diamond stud front grill, illuminated star, etc. and none of the MB dealers in the Boston area are able to help. They tell me that these accessories are not available on the 2020 350GLE -- even though some of these models come equipped with these accessories. Mercedes did their customers a big disservice in not having these items available in inventory even though the new GLE has been out for several months. What happens in the event that an owner with these options gets into an accident and needs to replace say the running boards? Guess he'd be **** out of luck, at least for the time being.

Sorry the additional rant. Here are some pics of my new wheels.

You migh t take a peek at the Accessories thread for more info. The grill upgrade isn’t going to work.

I hate to say it, but those tires are undersized. The stock 20" tire size is 275/50, not 45. 275/50s run 30.9" - 31.1" d.; the 275/45s are ~29.8" d., so you are giving up over an inch of sidewall (1/2" per side). Yes, they are slightly larger than the stock 255/50-19s ((29.1"), but those are WAY small for this vehicle. The wheels look good, but you haven't really decreased the visual wheel well gap. I would suggest upsizing when you eventually replace these tires.

Edit: Actually what I would do, if that size was the recommendation of the dealer, is go back and demand the correct size.

Hi all. Does anyone have part number for the 21in 10 spoke AMG wheels? Will I be able to mount these if I don’t have the AMG exterior? Thanks.

They are 13 spoke, and fit would be the same on non-AMG Line. Don’ t have PN but dealer can look up.

Since these wheels are wider, will they be sticking out if I don’t have the AMG exterior?

GLS wheels

Here is an AMG wheel design on the current GT 63 Coupe 4-door that looks like it may be available on the new GLS 63. Would be a nice option for the GLE 63, as well. Forged and a $3,200 ($3,700 in black) option on the Coupe. A modern take on the monobloc designs from the late '80s to '90s.

That looks like a lot of unsprung weight.

Well, they are forged. Actually probably weigh no more than the 13-spoke versions.

I disagree - nice change from all the slender spoke versions. And, goes back to historic AMG designs like on the C36 and such.

Greg /

how you got to this site where you can check your car w wheels? I have a GLE350 and about to get some ADV.05 wheels 22” and looking for the best tire setting front and back (widest).

  • It will be while before the aftermarket has the proper fitments out. For one thing the V167 has gone from 14 - 15mm lug bolts.
  • Offset is important. Stock wheels have different front/rear offsets.
The Mercedes optional AMG 22s (currently available outside the US, and on the forthcoming GLE 580 in the US) have these specs:
