Well, I called the other Benz dealer in town which is further away and they were shocked I was scheduled out so far! Told me to bring it right over as any safety recall should take priority.

I just got mine Tuesday night! Would they have been able to fix it already? It just came in too so they didn’t have it long!

Why do Mercedes treat customers as idiots.
Because I have heard nothing regarding the recall in the UK I phoned customer services. I was told that recalls were market specific and would be dependant on where the car was built. I told them that as it was air conditioning and would be applicable to all markets as all GLE'S were built in the US. They tried to deny this and only when I read the Korean information out as to how it could cause a fire did they say they would check my car.
Lo and behold there is a recall for UK cars and she is contacting my dealer to arrange for the check to be carried out.

Forums are a mine of information and are hassle to manufacturers, sometimes we seem to know more than them.

That has been my experience too. Specifically with the ordering process. I had to correct several codes on my order to make sure I was getting what I wanted.

I was only 1/2 hour. My mechanic mentioned something about the factory leaving drain pains off the cars...who knows...my dealer hasn't seen any defects with the recall yet.

Just a thought but you might want to double check the dealer since you have had a similar issue to what’s mentioned in the recall. It may be difficult to look under the dash with 100% accuracy and spot a kink. My dealer checked mine and found nothing. Last week, after a 30 minute drive with my AC on I parked over papers and there was not a drip of water. I could hear a fan running after parking that I believe is designed to remove condensation that causes a smell after a while as bacteria begins to grow around the coils. Every car I have owned has left a small stain on my garage floor by the end of Summer. Nothing yet from the GLE.
I just returned from a long trip and have now had just about every system go wacky including Nav,, Mercedes Assistant and Distronic this trip. I was almost rear ended by a Semi when Distronic slammed on my brakes for no discernible reason, With the package that includes Distronic you no longer have Cruise Control so it’s Distronic or nothing. Besides the brake incident my lane change quit working and on one occasion it reset my speed from 80 to 60 but just started coasting.
I was given a 350 for a loaner with the same interior but less bling. Key Fobs work and it has decent acceleration. It’s a lot nicer car than I expected.

By magic I received the recall letter this morning and car booked in for October 2nd, wonder if this would have happened if I hadn't contacted customer services!.

Here’s a new Recall for the GLE and numerous other vehicles with the Driver Assistance Package. It seems to be related to a mismatch between the Radar and Camera discussed earlier. My vehicle has been at the Dealer for 3 days now for a dozen issues including malfunctions with Distronic and to recheck the AC drain tubes for a kink mentioned in the earlier Recall. I am hoping that this is one of the solutions.

Has anybody had the driving assistance software update carried out. I have my car booked in tomorrow for the air con recall and have spoken to UK customer services who say they aren't aware of driving assistance issue. Frustrating as I will probably have to book car in again.

Phil,
My recall posted above is listed as - 6127 Perform Update of Radar Control Unit. Campaign #2019080007.
There is a noticeable improvement with both Distronic and Lane Keep. Now I get a vibration when approaching a lane marker instead of harsh braking. Distronic is working again but I won’t get a good test for two weeks when I go on a road trip.

Other updates were for “blank screen”; “key fob” software update and Interior Assistant Software was updated on line G.
I don’t recall any specific DAP update but there were some others that were done but not listed on my Service Invoice. Going from Memory I think there were 6 or 7 total updates so 1 or 2 more than listed. They also disconnected the battery-probably to clear any built up software conflicts. The Service Manager promised to call me as new updates show in his system. Rumor is that an update to allow Lane Keep to stay off is being considered.
Edit: Since I have a March build my updates might have been included with those units built later.

Hi Ron

The recall you posted says it is for vehicles with the driver assistance package which mine has, the radar control unit is part of that.. I have been lucky as as far as I am aware the only time the car brakes is if you cross a continuous white as detailed in the handbook.

They carried out a software update for the Radar when I was in the dealers today but couldn't say whether it was the one associated with the recall.
