Acoustic comfort package

We have just ordered a GLE450 with the acoustic comfort package. The dealer just described it as something that reduces external noise but the on line description is vague. It seems to suggest that ACP adds tinting and/or mirror finish, but the text doesn't actually specify this.

We hate tinted glass and would delete it from the rear windows if we could (we can't). Does anyone know if adding the ACP adds to the existing tint factor in the rear windows, or adds some other tinting or mirror finish to other windows. If it does, we need to delete the option.

Thanks

From what I understand it doesn't add tinting or mirror finish. It adds an infrared reflecting layer which is basically clear to the naked eye. Supposedly this is added to the front windshield and maybe the front driver/passenger windows. I don't know if other glass also have this or not. It blocks some IR heat from reaching the interior, but it seems to also block RF signals based on what the manual says about placing transponders on the windshield.

I think the windows are also thicker on the sides and you get extra insulation in certain areas.

The front driver/passenger side windows are laminated. It's basically two layers of glass with an IR reflecting layer sandwiched in between. Not sure if the rear windows are the same way or not. Or if the sun roof has the same type of multiple layers of glass.
