2020 GEL 350
Staggered Wheels

Morning everyone, I'm new to the MB world. We just purchased a 2020 GLE 350. Figured out the rear wheels and front wheels are not the same. Obviously with this set up I can't rotate tires from front to back. From my research it's hard to find a brand of tires that will fit both front and back unless they are the expensive ones like Pirelli Scorpion's that came on the vehicle. Any suggestions from MB owners for other manufactures tires that are more reasonable priced tires? Another dislike of the staggered wheels is you can't rotate them which cuts your mileage warranty in half.

Which wheels do you have, 20s or 21s?

You picked the most expensive tires of the bunch (until the 22s come out in the US). The Scorpion Zeros are among the most expensive model, and you can find some slightly less expensive Michelins, Pirellis & Continentals. Tires are one of the most important aspects of you car, and personally I would steer away from the off or Asian brands. The biggest thing with the staggered fitment is if you wear out one end before the other you don't want to mix different tires.

Despite the drawbacks to the staggered fitment, that's a damn nice looking setup; really makes the vehicle, IMO. And in case you didn't know, even the 20" wheels/tires that are same size front & rear have wheels with different offsets, which I find very strange. People will end up with wrong ones on wrong end for sure. Rotating would require dismounting and mounting tires.

Where are you located (add to your profile)?

we also have the 21s (not really my preference because of how expensive the tires are), they surely look very nice. now every time i see a regular GLE with smaller wheels they look funny (mostly because they don't stick out as much)

once these tires are gone i will likely just go with michelin. absolute price tag might not be cheap but i have run so many brands and michelin is better imho

actually sometimes 22s tires are cheaper than 21s, all about supply and demand. i don't know now if 21s are more common out there (in general) compared to 22s. couple years back 21s were considered off size so less demand out there, which makes the per unit cost of the mold higher and so the tires were actually more expensive than 22s.

but either way it's no fun

Definitely not in UK and I would imagine not in US as not many cars out there with 22's, the tyres on mine are Pirelli P zero front - 285/40R22 106Y , Rear 325/35 R22 110Y, would be interested to know cost in US.

Do you have Summers or All Seasons? In P Zero All Season fronts: 275/45-21 are $295, 285/40-22 are $459. Big difference.
