2020 GLE350 owner here.
I live in Connecticut and with the winter approaching, I would like to know what does the remote engine Starter starts when activated. Would it turn on the heated seats, the front and rear defroster? Is there a way to opt for these to turn on?

It's just an engine starter so any of those will be operating the way you set them before shutting off the vehicle. There are no heat or defroster controls in the app unfortunately.

 

I always thought he remote engine start was quite limited given if the point is to help warm up the interior or something during Winter, you'd think there would be some kind of HVAC controls in the app.

 

Agreed, it would have been great if you could adjust those from the app... surely it will be added eventually in future models.

 

On the W166 GLE with Mercedes me app, the engine is started and climate controls are as they were when the engine was previously turned off. Seat and steering wheel heating are not turned on with the remote start app.

 

I've noticed in our '19 E class that if I turn the car off and the heated seats were running that they will automatically come back on if I haven't been gone long from the car and turn the car back on. I wonder if it works with the remote star too? I've never tried it and looked. Although it wouldn't help when trying to warm the car with remote start like it was parked over night.

 

With the Warmth and Comfort package, remote starting to warm up the car is rendered mostly redundant. When I start the car, it's usually warmed up by the time I've reached the second house down the street. Steering wheel takes a bit longer, but I'll survive. #firstworldproblems
