No Block Heater!!

No Block Heater!!
We live in Western Canada where it gets COLD for extended periods of time. At time of delivery last week, I inquired after the block heater and plug. The SR spoke with the service people and returned with the explanation that the care did not have any facility to install one. He went on to say that all aspects of the engine were designed to never need a block heater. I find no references to a block heater in the owners manual.
So, for the benefit of us -40 degree guys, is this the truth or was I just “fed a line”.

With advances with synthetic oil there is less of a need for it but it would help warm the engine warm up to operating temperature quicker. No vehicle out there will be happy starting at -40. If you park outside I would probably get one, I think Canadian tire still sells A magnetic one you can attach to an oil pan if MB doesn’t have one as an accessory.

Nope. There's no block heater.
I was fed the same "line" back in 2016. However, I never had a problem with the diesel V6 (350d). I do not anticipate any issues this year either with the gasoline I6.
