GLE
21 / 22 inch rims

Hi there, I am about to commit to a GLE 450 and was curious to ask some of you owners out there about the larger optional rims.

Basically how prone are they to curb damage? Do you need to be extra careful when parallel parking so as not to graze the curb?

I currently own a Lexus with 60 aspect ratio tires and one of the joys I find in an urban SUV is to occasionally / accidentally ride up on curbs and not have to worry at all. The tires on the standard 20 inch amg wheels seem to have a lot of extra height and blubber to no have to sweat it either.

thanks and look forward to your feedback

Larger diameter rims aren't much (if any) more susceptible to curb damage than any other rims. Curb damage to rims is really entirely dependent upon the driver. The parking cameras are top-notch and make parallel parking a breeze. If you're worried about curb damage, the wheel/tire protection packages are reasonably priced and likely worth it, considering the cost of replacing a 21- or 22-inch rim.

I'm 5,000+ miles into my GLE450 with the 21" multispoke rims and no damage. From a practical standpoint the tires would make contact with the curb before the rim itself. And I agree that the cameras are exceptionally useful when parallel parking

I have the 22's and you would have to be very careless to curb them.

I used it twice I think. It parks too far from the curb, I would get a ticket if I leave it that way so it doesn't work for me.
