Internet
With my new GLE AT&T offers a free 1 GB for one month so you can connect to the internet via a separate cell phone number. My free month is almost up. Is it worth it?
It has been several months since then and I haven't missed it. My cell service is good so I just don't have a need. Your needs may differ.
It depends. I am using it to stream via Tune In although I could be doing that through the phone app as I have unlimited Internet on my phone.
Also, it is used for map searching if you are using the MBUX Navigation. And last, but not least, updates.

Also does it have to be AT&T or can we swap the SIM for another carrier? Does it list what LTE bands it supports?
On my father's XC90 there's a SIM slot in the trunk area and you can swap out the ATT SIM (free 6 month access) for any carrier. We put in a Tmobile SIM and it works fine. So wondering if on the GLE/GLS we can swap out the SIM for another carrier and if the 4G LTE radio supports bands for other carriers or if we're tied to ATT
You do not need to sign up for anything in order to use the MBUX Navigation or to get the updates. That part is free for three years.
What I find curious is that AT&T is the carrier tied to the vehicle even though they do not have any presence on the Canadian market.
Who's bandwidth are they piggybacking on? Bell, Roger's, Telus? Can it be switched to either of them as indicated above, by swapping SIMs?
At 20$/month, I find it expensive for services my cellular data plan covers already.

I started a post and changed my thought. Anyone know how to delete it? Once I started it and deleted all of the text it told me I needed at least 1 character.
