Wait for gle 450 2021?

I have got a discount of 12% for a custom order on gle 450 which has an allocation date of July 1D 2020. Pretty sure if things go as planned ( which I doubt due to shutdown), I would be getting it towards end of August. I did pay 1k as a refundable deposit but confused if I should be waiting. As per the dealer 2021 will towards end of the year. Based of Northern California.

A gaggle of MB's
The supply chain was disrupted by misc supplier factory closings - and you can ONLY manufacture a vehicle with 100% of the parts - so the supply chain disruption lead to closure of all auto factories both here and in Euro... now that's that... and that's a HUGE deal.

Frankly - you should consider NOT to lose your place in line - because it will be a long and agonizing wait for everyone. Why "lose" your $1,000 now BEFORE anyone "really" knows anything ?

Manufacturing systems were not designed to "reset" - what I mean by this is 100% of the 2020's that are in-line to be built - we HAVE to be built BEFORE any factory can changeover to revised 2021 models... and if Covid/disruption follows current projection you "might" get your 2020 this year - if your 2020 rolls over to calendar 2021 - it will be built as a "early" 2021 model but without any future "late" 2021 revisions.

It depends on what discount you get on a 2021. But assuming you get say 4-6% on a 2021 vs 12% on a 2020, I would get the 2021. It will retain value better and your total depreciation will be less 2-3 years later.

Unless you are leasing in which case get the 2020.
