Steering assist

Hello,
Just received my new car, coming from a w205 lors of changes.
I can't seem to engage the steering assist, I can see the steering in grey but it never turned green.
Previously on the c class, it was just a stalk to push.
Any help appreciated.
Also impressed with the parking assist, got a loaner e class and didn't parked as close.
Pretty nerve wrecking.

Steering Assist is only active when you use the cruise control. Lane Keeping Assist is active without using the cruise control, but it uses differential braking to keep you in your lane when you begin to drift out of your driving lane.

I wasn't able to get it working.
I use the select + on the steering wheel, it will put the limit on but I still have to press the gaz panel.
Is there a function that need to be enabled? I have the grey icon of the steering wheel on the dashboard and HUD.

Does your car has the "Driving Assistance Package"? Active Steering Assist is only available with that package.
Make sure the "Active Distance Assist Distronic" is activated.
Make sure the setting in Settings -> Quick Access -> Steering Assist is turn on.
Lane marking is clear

Must be the marking on the road but I should still be able to drive with auto break accelerate in traffic.
When I click set + all it does is locking the speed limit.
Am I missing something?

I don't have my car now at this moment so can't take picture of it. But here is one from the manual (this is for US, but should be similar)

You have to press 1 to make sure you have activated the "Active Distance Assist Distronic". Once you have that activated, one of the following icons should show up indicating the system is active.

You then have to set a speed (or using the adaptive cruise control). Once you done that, the icon above should turn green.
After that, the Adaptive Steering Assist should kick in (as long as the lane mark is clear and visible)
You can also use lane keep assist icon as an indicator to see if the car "see" the lane mark. That the icon with a car and 2 lines on either side, right next to your fuel gauge. If it is "green", it is active and detects lane marking.

Thanks that's what I am doing pressing the SET + or the Rest button without touching the breaks. All it does is slow down the car (not touching the accelerator as well) and preventing me to go above the set limit.
The Grey steering wheel never turn Green. It should work independently of the marking on the street especially in traffic.

When you press the "SET+" or "SET-", does the car icon with speed (second picture I posted above) turn green? Your car shouldn't slow down unless your set speed is below the current traveling speed.
If the set speed is above the travelling speed and there is no traffic ahead, it should accelerate. If it doesn't, it could means that you set the speed, but didn't actually activate the cruise control.
Also double check when cruise control is active (when safe to do so) in quick setting that the active steering setting is on.

If you confirmed that the cruise control is active and working, but active steering is still not working, the only thing I can think of is the following statement in the manual:
The following function is country-dependent and only available in conjunction with the Driving Assistance Package.
It could be a country specific thing, just like the tow away alarm and interior motion sensor that you have in the quick setting that is not available in the US.
OR
Depending on the country, in the lower speed range Active Steering Assist can use the surrounding traffic as a reference. If necessary, Active Steering Assist can then also provide assistance when driving away from the center of the lane to form a rescue lane, for example.
In this case, on slow speed, it will still need the lane marking instead of following the car in front.

Below are all 3 pages of the manual describing the Active Steering Assist. I would read those and double check to make sure all the conditions are met.

Ok Success, like you wrote, I had to press the (in my case)LIM button on the top left of the steering wheel opposite the HOME button.
The dashboard will then indicate the icon below, finally either pressing SET+ , SET - or RES would engage the driving assist.
Thank you again.
