Starting engine with Mercedes Me Connect App

The Mercedes Me Connect app works perfectly to unlock and lock my GLE450 from my Android device. It hasn't failed me a single time and usually takes fewer than 5 seconds for the car to respond to the instructions.

However, I'm having an issue with the engine start feature. It actually does work to start the car, and the app then shows a message like "Engine on until [current time + 10 minutes]", but the engine shuts off on its own within 5-10 seconds. Has anyone experienced this before, or alternatively had success with this feature?

Haven't used it recently but didn't have issues when I did use it. Good luck.

Works properly for me. I've probably used it 50 times, only time it fails for me is if a window is open or its low on fuel.

Hmm, thanks for the replies. I wonder if it's because the Check Engine Light in my car is on. Perhaps the engine turns on and after doing its self-tests, it decides it should shut off. But truthfully I can't remember if I tried remote engine start before the CEL appeared.

The CEL was checked by the dealer and they had to order a low-pressure fuel pump which takes some time to arrive, but the dealer assured me it's safe to drive in the meantime (something around the problem being with the readings, not the functionality). Thankfully no issues with the engine staying on if I start it with the push button

Yes, that would definitely be a factor. There are several conditions that have to be met for remote start to work and actually keep the engine running for 10 minutes. A CEL indicates a problem with the engine, so remote start will most likely not allow it to run. The CEL isn't something that it can check in advance, so it makes total sense for the engine to start running, but then shut down after a few seconds if the CEL doesn't go away to prevent potential engine damage. I haven't really used remote engine start on my C63, other than trying it out a couple of times. Just don't have much of a use for it. The only time it didn't work is if the car isn't locked, but I noticed the other day, they updated the app and it now doesn't even give the option to remote start if the car is unlocked and it says that the car must be locked before it can be remote started.

Correct - MercedesMe will shutdown the engine as soon as it receives the info from the car on the CEL...
