Stop Start feature

I had some ideas about Start-Stop but I can't find a way between the contestants.
(BTW there is no stuffed Panda for the loser.)
Thank you very much.

With this new "500cc per cylinder" architecture (4 cyl = 2.0L, 6 cyl = 3.0, 8 = 4.0) they are approaching 50% thermal efficiency, heretofore unheard of. Their Formula 1 engines have exceeded 50% for a few years now, and we see that tech filtering down to the new production engines, particularly in the AMG53 variants.
The I-4 and I-6 engines will be more efficient than the V-8 because of a variety of things, like internal friction and intake / exhaust packaging.
I am mightily impressed with the 33 mpg we see regularly on highway trips. Not bad for a 2 1/2 Ton do-it-all vehicle!
Some say that, if I.C. engines can achieve 55% thermal efficiency, they will surpass pure electric vehicles for overall efficiency, all inputs included.

Maybe someone else read it too and can remember where it was.

In addition, where the 4cyl completely disengages the driveline and you coast with no engine braking (in eco mode), you get Regenerative Braking with the 450/580, during decel or mild braking. It's actually quite smooth, and I kind of like that feature.
In fact, with our 450 I left the S/S feature enabled because it's so well integrated. More - at lights or prolonged stops, all features that would normally quit operating (water pump, Air Conditioning, etc.) are active - driven by the 48v system, so you don't lose that function.
In real world driving, I get +3mg on the 450, compared to our '19 GLC399 with the 2.0L four. I'm good with that, especially since the "start" part is pretty unnoticeable.
However there is a current thread about a provider named Vlad, who can provide programming to change the setting default to "disabled" all the time.
Edit - here's the post with Vlad's pricing - https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post8236531

Top notch guy - the best in OBD programming/mods by far..
All it does is send a switching signal when the car is started like you have pressed the button to turn it off, if you wish it to be on you will need to press the button after starting, it just reverses the process that most manufacturers have forced upon us.
I have this in my Smart car and it works great, I have not put it in the Wifes Merc as she likes the feature.

I assume this should also work for the 2021 GLE 53?
Also by ECO setting do you mean the Drive setting so that it doesn’t automatically reset to comfort mode or is this the Start Stop?

For anyone annoyed with disabling the start / stop feature each time, you can pick up one of our OBD programmers that retains "last mode" for this feature, you can take a look at our vehicle coverages HERE. Pick one up today!
I really hate the start/stop feature and feel this was worth it to me. Although the 48 volt system isn't as jarring, I don't like the feel and also the wear and tear, and voltage drop are a concern.
The instructions were a bit unclear though. There were some sequences to open and close doors, and switch ignition on off, then on, then insert adapter within 8 seconds. There was no way I could reach blindly under the dash with the door closed and insert the adapter. I opened the door, plugged it in, and It seems to work perfect, but I did not get any indication or conformation on the screen. Now when ever the drivers screen is on, there is an "A" in a circle that always says OFF (unless I toggle it manually with the button near the ignition switch). If your model is listed, this works.
