Buying from Inventory?

Buying from Inventory?
Due to the lengthy order time for GLEs, I was looking at existing inventory on the MBUSA website. The inventory look to be the same for all dealers within my area and there's a mix of 20202/2021 models. If I look at a nearby dealer, I don't see the vehicle in their inventory. I inquired at one dealer and they sounded pessimistic as it sounded like they couldn't get the vehicle in list. Does anybody know if the vehicles listed in the inventory are for all dealers w/in an area?

They are supposed to be. The MBUSA website pools all vehicles in the area. It's up to the dealer to source the vehicle from another dealer if they can or want to. Obviously there will likely be lesser discounting if they have to import the car as opposed to an inventory car.

Just because a vehicle appears on a dealer (or MBUSA) web site it doesn't mean that these are actual available inventory. As my dealer pointed out to me, as soon as the vehicle is invoiced to the dealer it goes on their web site. My special order went up on their site the day it was invoiced. Shipped the next day and took 13 days or so to arrive. It remained on their site until the day after I took delivery.
